Default Gruppe M, K & N Filter Ram Charger - Injecion Performance Kit

Hope this is the right forum for this question, new user. In fact new to Honda.

Just received the above article from Japan, waiting for my DC5 dosnt reach the UK until sometime in April, anyway the paperwork that comes with the above kit is in Japanese. The manufacturers wont/cant send me an english copy. The people who sent the kit cant get an english copy. The kit is simple enough to install, no problem there. Except there seems to be some double sided tape with the kit and nobody knows what its for? The supplier has been asked the same qestion several times and would like to know also. Has anyone installed this kit before or know what the #### i am talking about?

Yeah thats the kit, adds about 10 - 15 HP. I spoke to GruppeM and they were no help.

Maybe somebody hear speaks japanese and I can scan the documents.

Gruppe M also spoke to me about remapping the ecu for another 10% HP at a cost of £600 equals around the $1100 mark I guess, and they are far too busy for me now. Would an Apexi FC Controller be more worth while?

I would love to show you guys some pics of my 2001 DC Integra Type R, I promise to upload them soon, the pics are on my work comp.

Thanks

The double sided tape is used for the new cowl piece, it has the connections for the factory plastic clips on the underside, but on the top section you can not clip in the clips fo r the rubber gasket, so the double sided tape is used on the gasket and and cowl to hold it in place.

I'm sure you will like the car and intake. They most likely (was it GruppeM Europe, that you spoke to?) was speaking of having your computer remapped with Hondata. Possibly. Also the kit doesn't add that much power, more like 9ps or about 7hp. It may not sound like much, but throttle response is very crisp and the power is gained throughout the rev-range and torque is also increased by about 6.5 lb-ft. I definitely have no complaints with mine.

So how does this thing work? Where does the Ram Charger effect come in to play?
It looks like it is pointed towards the back of the engine bay? towards the firewall? I don't understand why they put all the DC5 intakes at the back of the compartment... they finally switched the motors up so that the intake and the header are on the right sides, and they just run the intake to the back of the engine bay near the exhaust anyways?

And people worry about water intake with the AEM CAI

that looks like a vacuum cleaner, But I'd use it on my caR if it was made for DC2s...

You can get the Ram Charger for DC'2 through GruppeM. I got mine from my car importer Newera in Japan but it costs a bit more. GruppeM certainly sell these for DC2's if you check out their website.

http://www.gruppemeurope.com/frc_honda.html#2

http://www.neweraparts.com
http://www.nereraimports.com

I think Newera only deliver to the UK.

I dont get my baby for another month but if you want to see it I can always email it to someone to put on their server!! I hate computers!!

Thanks for everyones help

Given the aerodynamics of the car , it would harldy suck in much air from there anyways ......

I think Chris took it off; it was intended to be used in inclement weather.

so it would just suck the cold air in from around the windsheild area?

10- 15 HP is form the mouth of the people who specialise in Aerodynamic flow, ie GruppeM. Thats where I got the info from, cant help it if the people who design, make and test the system are wrong! Thanks for the input about your stickers, remarkably helpful!

Shane, actually I spoke with the guy that designed the intake for the DC5 and asked about the scoop. When I first read the instructions I thought it said to not use the scoop when it is raining, but when it was raining hard one day sitting at work, I said to myself, this can't be right as water is getting inside the intake as it sits. So I reread the instructions and figured I read them wrong (hey I can only read some of the Japanese). Come to find out, I actually read them right in the first place. This guy told me that they exhausted hours upon hours testing this thing with the scoop getting it the right size and everything and he said, yeah you may of felt that you were making more power cruising around on the streets without the scoop, but at higher rates of speed you are losing power and he also said even at lower speeds I would lose torque without the scoop in place. He said when it rains, you can or can not use it, that is up to the user. I just leave it on all the time now.

And for the guy cracking about it making that much power, unfortunately I can't put it on a dyno here, but many people that are using it in the UK have made about 9hp and 7lb-ft of torque with just the intake. It does make power. This isn't a company of the APC caliber. When you get the chance, check around on their website, the Japanese one and go gander at some of the carbon intakes they make for Ferraris
