bearing may be going out........
i think my friend is on the verge of spinning a bearing. he wants to replace all the bearing, main and rod bearings, is there anything else that he needs to replace.
if the crank needs to be micropolished, he will get that done.
i was thinking he will need:
main and rod bearings
head gasket
maybe:
new rings
what do ya'll suggest for him?
thanks

its at about 18psi at idle. he checked it yesterday. i think he's going to drop the oil pan tomorrow.
when he turned it on, the oil light didn't come on anymore. he didn't drive it, just turned the car on and let it idle for a bit, then turned it off.

idle psi at 40-50psi....ha...thats way too high.
your at 50psi when your cruising i believe.
idle should be about 15-19psi i think.
he drained the oil and you can see some little copperish glitter in the oil.

Copper glitter would be a good sign of bearing wear. But even if he replaced the bearings, is there a bigger problem?

its a gsr motor and my post above states he found copper glitter looking stuff.
a bigger problem, i don't think so. motor isn't knocking or anything. the motor sounds fine when you turn it on. you would never think there is anything wrong with it.
he plans on replacing the rod and main bearings, have all the clearances checked, piston rings changed.
