Spin To Win!!
Hey JG,
Looks like fun. Your tires are fat and Phat. I will try and run a regional if you are going to do Solo 1 and maybe I will run it also. Let me know. Any word on Pacific Raceways? I have seen some early schedules and they have it down for some SCCA races including a National. I think they are working on the re-certification now.

~This may be of interest to other NW folks~
I was talking to a fellow (who's trying to build a spec-Miata) this weekend about that very subject and he told me that PR was just recertified. I think it's a little early for firm dates, but some email-list chat talks about a few dates there including a double national. I'm sure we'll know more in the coming weeks. Those tractors better get a move on

John, from the looks of that first pic, it appears that the Civics are taking over in your neck of the woods
I, too, like that last pics. Your car looks good and TEiitE!

Those are some buddies. We like to make fun of the younger croud. All those guys but me have really nicely done B block motor transplants.

13x7 Willamette wheels with the new 215/50-13 V700's. BTW, they don't like to stick when it's 39 degrees and windy with 25 minutes between runs.

Hey John, can you give me names and email addresses for Kyle, Nash, and whoever the other guy was? I wanna have some people to pester incessantly with questions. Are they all local? At one point, Kyle was like, part time up here and part time down in Cali.

John G,
I think that the re-certification is for the track as it is now. They have to get up to spec on conditions and safety of the track. I think that they are starting on the new stuff but it won't be run on this season if I am not mistaken. I hope Scott doesn't hit me on the head again

I almost brought my civic to the event, but I decided to bring the NSX, since the rear tires on the civic are bald, and its suspension is just horrible, and it has no power. And it looks terrible. Would have been embarassing parking next to you guys.

Of course, I drove the NSX like utter crap, so maybe I should have brought the civic afterall.

This was me waiting for my run. I'm behind rambler's car in the first pic. Had a good time.

nice pics guys, I got a few questions. i have looked into the scca and am thinking of joining, but i'm afraid that my car sucks. How moded are your cars, engine swaps, turbo's, all aftermarket or jdm engine parts? I just have no clue. secondly how much safety equipment is neccasary? Racing seat, # point harness, roll bar, helmet? any modification limits? Thanks in advance...

The cool thing about Solo-II is that you can basically run-what-you-brung. No mods required. Safety requirements are a Snell M90 helmet (minimum). Go to http://www.scca.org and use the region finder to locate local clubs in your area to find local contact people.

So in other words, don't sweat it. Show up, have some fun and worry about how well you will do later.

Well i just spent about 30 mins on the scca site and affiliated sites and it all looks like a lot of fun and good learning experience. I could be part of the northern or southern jersey group. I live in the middle. Any suggestions as to which, or does that not matter at all. Thanks again...
Doesn't matter. Well, if you join the SCCA, I think you have to join with a region. But when it comes to attending events, just go to all of them.
