well.. I got rear ended in the morning, going to school. and then at night, I hit a tree.. lol. that's what happens when you drive your hatch during the winter.

the damage wasn't that bad.

my plans for the car was to swap the engine, then do the bodywork.
but since this happened, I didn't want to do the body work twice. so I went all out.

brought it to the shop, I'm getting everything done. Fixing all the rust and every single lil ding.

this is the guy doing all the work, he's a crazy old man

and I'm also changing the color to a pimp BMW Imola Red



I had a other thread going about the color, I almost went with Imola Orange

well before I start showing the work, I'll show you guys what my car looked like before in her moment of pride. and yes, I need new rims.




my car is in the shop now, and I have bought these exterior parts to go with her new looks;
-Fake Spoon mirrors
-OEM front lip
-JDM headlights
-JDM Stanley Side markers
-JDM thin side moldings - passwordjdm exclusive


he quoted me about 2350$ CND for everything, that includes:

-new bumper
-new hood
-new passenger fender
-fix all the rust
-fix all the dings
-install side markers
-shave Antenna
-paint the car a different color, including inside trims and everything.

and he's using the best paint and primers.


the accident:








alright, since I don't have a car to go see my car, I can't go everyday like some other people have the chance to do here, so I wasn't able to cover all the work.

I brought the car in Wednesday after noon, and he said he would start working on it Thursday morning, so I get there at around noon.

2nd visit

took out the rusty fender, and started his magic



he also informs me that the back bumper support is fucked, and he will just weld it on instead of getting a new one, he says it will be stronger and cheaper.

driver side is really starting to look good too


I got there, and i was very surprised to see that he took out the back windows too. the more I looked at his work, the more I was impressed, no short cuts were used.

4th visit


He called me that morning, saying that he was ready for me to wire my side markers. since i had to wire them the JDM way. I was very pleased that he let me work on my car in his shop.


I don't have any pics of the wiring that I did, but if you need help, there's a few pages in the archives that explain it very well.

I'll keep you guys updated, I'm going tomorrow, I'm pretty sure he started painting by now.

5th visit

i was a bit disappointed that he didn't start to paint yet. but at least the car is in the painting room and the body work is all done.

6th visit

well the old man called me yesterday and told me to come in to take pictures, but I couldn't get a ride actually, I had school all day.
anyways, I finished school at 10 this morning so I'm on my march break now , and my buddy drove me down there.

but the old man was mad that I didn't come yesterday, and he said that today was a bad day because he doesn't like his customers seeing half the job done..

but I told him that I wanted to have pictures of the whole process.

he said and I quote "it's like looking at a woman when she's coming out of the shower, her hair is a fucked up, and she has no make-up on"
lol

anyways, I was expecting my car to look like ***, but I persisted so he let me take a few shots. he literately only gave me about 60 seconds in the room, then he kicked me out. haha, he's insane.

he said he has 1 more day of painting, and then It'll take him about 2 more days to put everything back together.
I told him not to rush.

7th visit

I finally called him a week later, and he told me something about the paint being constipated (no joke)
he told me to come in and see the car for myself.

so I find a ride, and what do I see ?

WTF!









he didn't like the finish, so he sanded it down with dry 1800.
and he said he will buff the **** out of it and glaze it.

this will also get rid of all the imperfections. and he promised me it would turn out like pearl.

so.. I guess we have a few more days of waiting till we get to see the final result.
he said he wants the car out of his shop by Friday.

8th Visit

I got my JDM Side moldings in the mail yesterday, so I went to the shop today to drop em off.
and while I was there, I obviously took more pictures.

the car isn't done yet and dirty *** ****
I took a few pictures and then the batteries died. so since my batteries were dead the color is off, and it also didn't help that my flash was on.

I'm getting my car tomorrow, so I'm going to take lots of pictures with a different camera. a good one.

anyways, these pictures suck and don't do justice.










Can't wait anymore !!

alright, got my car back.
I was really busy today, had to get new plates and ****, plus all my friends wanted to see it.

didn't really take GOOD pics. I'll tkae more later, with my friend's 2000$ cam from school !!

I'm going to go see it tomorrow,

at first I told him that everything that was black before, I want it to stay black.
but now I'm going to tell him to paint the handles.

if it's not too late


and if he didn't start on the hood yet, I'm going to ask him to shave the emblem.
not that I particularly like the look of having no emblem, I'm just trying to avoid potential thieves/drunk guy to **** up my paint by prying the emblem off.

 

WOW, what a huge *** job!!! I am totally impressed by the quality of work being done so far, if he continues to really dial in your prep work you will have one great paint job.

cause the paint is now pink,


and the kid who hit me from behind is paying for the back damage too.

so instead of fixing up the front and back, and then in a year redo it all again a different color, might as well save money and do it all now.

 

if you're gonna paint the whole car over, do CX style with no door moldings...imo that would look super clean
