Default To all you guys with upgraded sway bars

What did you do to strengthen the mounting areas for the sway bars so they would not stress and crack ?

There are a few guys that have upgraded and had to weld stronger steel around mounting areas for sway bars as they have cracked under stress.

On my 5th gen, I have Tanabe 30.4mm bar on the front, and discontinued 28mm Neuspeed bar on the back. And I personally had no problems with anything cracking. I heard somebody complain that their endlinks snapped (atleast with the Neuspeed bars, but I figured it's because of soft spring rates), but that has never happened to me. Other than that I've heard no other problems, at least with Preludes. If somebody had welded steel plates, please enlighten me about the reasons, because it seems pointless to me, unless the car is at stock height, with stock shocks/springs.

I wouldn't bother unless you actually rip them out yourself.

Otherwise, they usually just weld some more metal around where they fail.

5th gens don't have the tear out issue, the 4th gens do. The best way to fix the problem is not to use really stiff sway bars and instead use softer sways and stiffer springs on the 4th gen. You can weld, but it doesn't help as you rip out the entire section of the subframe.

Do you by any chance know if 5th gen subframe bolts up to the 4th gen, with minimal welding/drilling? Because, if that's the only problem I know I have at least two 5th gen subframes some 4th gen owners might want to use.

No idea to tell the truth and even if they bolt up I'm not sure if the toe adjustment bar and LCA will be able to attach.

The swaybar doens't mount to the subframe. I've got the ST bar on the back of my 4g. I had some popping from a broken weld on the nut inside the frame. I welded the brackets to the frame and added gussets to strengthen the mount. No problems since.
