Default automatic tranny question

hey fellow honda tech members.
im new here so if i f**k up somewhere in the post, try not to bash so hard.

well as u can tell by my screen name i am not a prelude guy.
i know few about the engine and the tranny. yes i know they are similar in many ways.
my point for this post is asked by my friend. he currently owns a 93 prelude and wants to get 97+ prelude. his friends told him that the all the automatic tranny from 97+ has a big problem. he heard that and i quote "the auto tranny is like a ticking time bomb, it will die on u after a while and it will cost a 1000 to 2000 to fix." is this true about the tranny if not is there any major problems that can come from a prelude's tranny 97+ ?
hope u guys can help and thanks for the replys

Never had any problems with mine when I had the auto. Just depends on how hard you drive and how you take care of it. A lot of people are gonna tell you it's a POS without any firsthand experience with it. It is slower, but I didn't have any troubles.

I have just over 10,000 miles and no problems yet. I say if your friend wants an auto then he should get an auto, and just make sure he takes care of it.
