Fontana Pro Solo....Who's in?
I Worked it out today so I can run the Fontana Pro Solo this weekend
I started my new job today and had already asked for the SD Tour weekend, so I thought this weekend was out. I talked to my new co-worker and worked it so I can run both weekends
It is looking like a really killer field in STS, and I am very exciting about doing battle with some great competitors.
I have been working my butt off to get my 91 prepped, and it is almost completely prepped to the rules now. I will be a few pounds over weight and short a few hp, but it should be really close.
Completed mods:
15x7.5" SSR's
205 50 15 Azenis
Koni sports
Ground Control kit w/the raised top hats
Eibach springs 450/500
Suspension Technique's rear sway bar
CRX HF front sway bar
Mugen trailing arm bushings
AEM cold air intake
Unorthodox Ultra R pulley
DC Sports header
Hawker Genesis G13EP battery
Sparco Corsa driver seat
Cheap *** used Ebay passenger seat, ugly, but saved 11lbs
Stainless steel brake line kit - should be on by Thursday
Removed all the under hood A/C components (still have under the dash)
Removed the stereo
Removed the mud flaps
New Clutch, CV Joints, Front calipers, rotors, drums, cylinders, shoes, pads, water pump, master cylinder, timing belt, plugs, cap, rotor and wires.
Subtract the spare tire, jack, tool kit, cargo cover, spare cover, lower fuel and stock muffler adds up to a 200 lb weight loss
Still have the under dash A/C pieces - about 10 lbs
Steering wheel - not sure
Lighter exhaust - not sure
Lighter passenger seat - about 5 lbs
Aluminum side mounts for driver Sparco seat - 2 to 3 lbs

You're toast foolio!
(oh wait, I'm in STX again, d'oh)
Good to have you in the class Jeff. FWIW the stuff you have left won't matter much - all the main ingredients are there. Plus you're still 15-20lbs. lighter than me...

Unfortunately, I am out. I was planning to continue out that way after El Paso but had trouble with the car again and had to thrash just to get ready for El Paso. As such, I did not get to my "Honey Do" list of "before the wedding" chores. So, I'm back in Austin getting stuff done.
The car trouble was the tranny again. I fixed what broke at Nats (diff carrier bearing) but did not consider the collateral damage. Gee, when one bearing goes south in a major way and starts wobbling the diff around, what do you think happens to the other carrier bearing?
So I r&r'd the tranny twice in the course of 24 hours last week. I've got Bob Seelig's spare back in now and still have to re-fix mine (I'm going to totally rebuild it now) before the AR Tour. You'd think I would get all of this done over the winter, but nooooo! I am infected with the Racer's Disease: Procrastination!
I'll see you guys in Atwater instead. Bring your A-game. You'll need it.

Damn...I sooo wanted to be there, but a co-worker is already taking this weekend off.
San Diego instead, I guess. Have to try a NT sometime, having been to Nationals 3 years in a row, eh?

DSP? Why?
DSP? Why?
JRho - You should run in STS, you know you will be faster than Ken at the Pro
It will be fun to see how far behind you will be by the first turn though
Andy - I was looking forward to getting to meet you and have the chance to run against you, but it looks like it will have to be another event.
It is also looking like it could rain
I love running in the rain

cause there wasn't enough people for fsp so he gets bumped up.

(Sarcasm) You are my hero. I just hope I'm good enough to get a trophy. With a big enough class, that means I only need like a 5th or 6th.
I've almost fogotten there is a Pro Solo this weekend. I need to mount 2 sets of tires on Friday before arriving at, where is the event being held? Fontucky or something? I forgot to order some of them "Honda" decals as well. Oddly so have you and Leslie.
I do believe we'll have the slowest launching car for the Pro. Oh well, I'll just have to bite my tongue as I watch Leslie 2 car lengths ahead of me before the first turn...
And yes, Jason will beat me. He'll beat all of us STS slow pokes. Hopefully I'll be within a second of his times.
(end Sarcasm)
Of course the only thing I'm thinking of is the pajama party we're having on Saturday night. Jason will want to come also- don't ask me how I know....

Stickers.....we don't need no stinkin stickers
My car is so fast, the stickers can't hang on
Pajama party! Are you going to wear your new teddy Kenny
It will be fun to see how messed up you will be on Sunday
Hopefully my entry made it into the Pro in time, it might be full and my name isn't on the list yet. I will call, again, tomorrow to see if I am definitely in. Otherwise, see your sorry *** on Saturday.

dood, you ended the sarcasm one line too soon!
I have a new tactic to try and make up the .5 seconds to 60' I lose to Sortor - I'm going to line up backwards, and launch the car at redline in reverse. With all the weight over the driving wheels it should be good for a sub-2.0, then about 100' out I'll do a slick Hollywood-style 180 and keep going! heh heh heh...anyway
Pajama party will be interesting. Hopefully success there will be less difficult than in the Pro...if so I may not make it back Sunday!

Yeah Jason, you should run in STS.
Now, I'll just have to convince Paul B. to move back to STS, then figure a way to sabotage Sortor's car, and I'm good to go.
See ya all this weekend.

Looking forward to this weekend. This'll be my second pro. I had a lot of fun last year and I'm sure this year will be more of the same. Well, except for standing in the rain.

Jason
I'm going to get a preview of what is to come this Saturday night. Better call me tomorrow morning and make sure I'm still alive and remind me to mount the tires we're supposed to run this weekend..

Details, details!! We need some details!! Event has been over for five hours already!!
I hear the "Plan B" course was quickly set up when the monsoon appeared on Friday and that it was tight and short? Results show times n the mid-25 second range and very similar times across many classes. Sounds like a simple course with few turns. True?

Course was very challenging in every way. You had to have ***** but not go over- board with was very easy to do, especially on the tight series of turns towards the finish. I'd tell you more about it, but right now I'm pretty exhausted.
Two more runs and Nino would have won.

Thanks for the kind words Ken. I'm just happy that I could keep up with you guys. What happened to you in the challenge. After I redlit, I went back to the pits to pack up and get out of there, but I saw that you were heading back too. Do you know who ended up winning the challenge?
