Leaking sound coming from under dash
I've recently been having a noise come from under the dash..by the pedals. It sounds like if a coolant hose has been pinched...as if compressed liquid and air was in something and now the liquid is leaking. LIke a sort of bubbling noise. I looked under the dash and didn't see anything. I don't smell anything either. As soon as I turn off the car, the noise goes away. Also, there's no liquid or noise coming from the engine bay and there's no liquid under the car.
I recently did a H22 swap and I noticed on my way home from work one day that the cluster lights were dimming in and out quite often while driving. So I figured the alternator was going to die anytime now. So I took the precaution and purchased an alternator from local pep boys. I purchased an EX alternator (90amps) for my LX Accord. (It was way cheaper and I thought the extra 10 amps would be better) Then 2 days later after replacing the alternator ...I had this same problem about hearing the noise under the dash and then a couple of days later the alternator died. I was using an EX 10amp (90amps) higher alternator which I shouldn't be using b/c I have a LX. I took the alternator back and purchased the LX (80amps) one and for a week the car is been fine without that noise under the dash until today. The noise began coming again today.
I can't figure anything out, because there's no lines or hoses down there. The only ones that are in the vicinity are the heater inlet and outlet but I do not smell any coolant! Also, if something electrical was burning up, I would smell something burning.
BTW, I still have the cluster lights diming everytime I'm stopped @ a traffic light even with the new alternator.
I'm running a Japanese h22 with my accord alternator, and a shorter alternator belt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. OH, and throwing the car in the canal is NOT an option!
