is anyone here actually a painter? or are you all going by what you heard?
i painted my car and wetsanded and buffed it 3 days after i cleared it..i waxed it the next day...i have washed it with just water and dried it with an absorber(shami)..and the buffed it again with black gold(type of wax)....i dont know where you guys come up with this bullshit..but thats all it is...bullshit...dont speak unless its from experience....the best way to take car of your clear coat is to use a good high speed machine polish but apply it by hand...i use a # of diffrent things depending on what the weather is like...perfect it II polish is great for bringing out the deep gloss but it sucks at removing fine scratch's..i use crystal image for removing fine scratch's but then that leaves me with swirl marks...i use black gold to remove swirl marks and add depth to the clear coat..which makes the paint flawless...you can apply glaze or wax by hand or machine..but if you dont know how to work a machine just apply it by hand like a regular wax

i forgot to add..stay away from using anything that might scratch the surface of the clear whan drying or washing the car..such as rags, towels, brush's, mitts..etc etc...get a soft cloth to apply soap and water and when drying the car use a specific shami( i use "the absorber") and i only use it for drying my car..noone else's..it keeps it from getting dirty or contaminated

if you buy"the absorber" it comes in its own little plastic case..youjust ring it out and put it back in there damp...you can wash it too..it has directions for washing that come with it....you can buy them at most autoparts stores

wrong...micro fiber isnt for drying cars..they are for removing wax's/compund's/glaze's..irls come from using a towel to dry your car while you make a circular motion with your hand...thats why towels are bad..shammie's are good

please explain how you can justify a towel or shami picking up left over dirt on a car and scratching a car..but a micro fiber wont?..does the micro fiber magically leave the dirt on the paint and alwasy stay clean?..do you know how many cars ive had to buff because stupid *** porters wiped a brand new car with a microfiber towel and left it covered in swirl marks?

the facts are..if you wash your car like **** and dont get all the dirt off...anything will smear dirt around..shammy,microfiber,towel etc etc..but if the car is 100% clean and just needs to be dried off...a microfiber will scratch it way before a shammy will..

i think your the one talking bull **** man. unless your paint job is baked in an commerical type oven (the kind that auto manufactures use) you cant wash or wax it right away.
my car has been painted twice by smaller shops with normal ovens to partially cure the paint and they both said no water or soap on the paint for a week, and no wax for a month.
if you do it your self, it should take significantly longer.
you may not notice it right away, but waxing it right away will not allow the paint to cure from the inside out (where it adheres to the car)... in other words, you wont notice it right away, but do be surprised if your paint starts to flake, peel, chip, bubble, etc a few years down the line.
and how do i know? i didnt listen to the painters instruction the first time around, and had to have it repainted about 3 years later. its been repainted for at least that long now and is holding up just fine (different painter, but it was me that did the prep once again, same paint, and same type of oven)

ok man..like i said...everyone speaks about what they were told or what they heard..no body speaks from actual experience..ive been in the body business for 6 years..3 years of it ive been a painter 2 years a body man and 1 year panel repair..ive painted a few cars and thousands of bumpers/parts for people most of those cars are still in my life regularly..not one of them have had any prob since with the paint cracking or peeling..yes some have had to be redone due to reactions or the color was off because the manufacturer has up to 10 diffrent variations for 1 color and its hard to know what variation to use with out the car being there..but thats besides the point..everyone makes mistakes..i think your problem is whoever painted your car used shitty materials and blamed it on you waxing the car..plus i think your problem was you waxed the car and let it sit in the sun and that caused your paint to flash or solvent pop which can cause the paint to peel or blemish from under the clear..this has nothing to do with wax..its because the people who painted your car didnt bake it properly or they didnt let it cure with out a oven before they gave it to you(which isnt necessary, but makes the clear cure inside and out)..im slow curing my car in a 75 degree environment..the wax has no efffect on making te paint peel off because you applied it to"early" thats bullshit....i blame shady prep work
...if the wax did effect the clear it would bubble up like if you were to pour gas on stirofoam...ive tried to paint and clear over wax...trust me..thats what it looks like..it just melts and peels instantly..it dosent look fine and peel months or years later..it dosent stick from the beginning...get your facts straight before you voice an opinion next time please

how do you explain a soft material like microfiber leaving swirl marks and a harder material like a chamois or a absorber doesn't? and how are you suppose to wash a chamois or absorber when you use it more than once on the same car?

a micro fiber towel is just that.. a towel..its a fine towel for removing wax..it makes any surface scratch's minimal..thats its purpose..a shami will leave scratch's if its dirty or old and raggy this is true..but if its taken care of and cleaned regularly it wont leave your car with more scratches than it had on it before you washed it..and please explain your last comment..you can wash a absorber by following the wash instructions included with the absorber..if you use it and it gets dirty wash it..if you use it and its clean..ring it out and put it away for next time..it all depends on how well you wash your car..if you spray it with a hose and dry it off using the absorber to remove left over dirt..yes...its gonna smear dirt everywhere..but if you clean the car and leave nothing for water for the absorber to absorb(like its meant to do) then the ansorber will not scratch the clear
