Default rough intake porting

ok, i tried to do some research on this topic, but couldn't find the answer im looking for.

i talked to a machine shopping that does port and polish in albquerque, pretty popular.
the guy i talked too seem to know his stuff, he told me that the way he port the intake side of head is a little different than most people. he doesnt leave the intake port to be smooth, but he give it a little roughness texture.

i asked him why and he answered is that help the intake side flow better, he show me a book that said something about rough texture help air flow better than smooth surface.

if someone know what hes talking about please expain it to me. thanks. and should i believe him.

When I port heads I always leave the intake side a bit rough, but I've always done so as more of a means to help atomize the fuel better before it reaches the combustion chamber as opposed to increased airflow.
