i figured i would start a topic where we can post specific questions about the expo.

what is the policy regarding refunds? obviously if we register/pay, we should plan on going, but things happen that might prevent us from coming. example: loss of job, death in family, stolen car, impossible to take vacation time, etc. if i can be sure that i can get a hassle free refund, i will send my registration in by mid-february.

 

my thoughts EXACTLY. Since, I live in NYC, theft is a very high possibility (followed on the FDR last night ! Had to do some stupid moves to drop the knuckleheads).

So is there a policy about refunds? on a sliding scale? (80% refund if cancel 4 weeks before event, 50% two weeks before, or whatever)

 

I don't know CGI's policy, but I'm pretty sure you could still get a refund. Depending on *how* close it came down to the Expo, you might not get a full refund.

 

This statement is on the registration form, though it doesn't offer any info on pro-rated refunds. I will die before I miss it this year, so I'm not particularly concerned with it...

"PLEASE NOTE: A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION. ONCE CONFIRMED CANCELLATION REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN ONLY IF THE ENTRY IS FILLED."

That is how we are handling it.

 

At most of the events I've been to, if there's a REAL last-minute emergency - like if your car is stolen - they give you a refund even if it doesn't say so in their policy.

I'm not speaking for Phil or Wes, and this is not a guarantee. I'm only pointing out that these are people holding these events and they can apply their judgment to individual circumstances. HTH
