Default Clutch Help On 94 Teg GSR!

Pretty sure that my clutch is slipping. I put it in first get to about 4g and it jumps, Shift into 2nd an again about 4g the same and the same for 3rd and 4th is ok i think but im not building up enough speed to really find out for 4th gear. Do you guys think it needs a cluch? If so what do you recommend. I mean I plain on putting a set of cams in, and rebuilding the bottom end and pistons stock. Got CAI and Header an i might change the intake mani and msd ignition. Need help all advice is apprieated thanx.

start out in first gear normally, shift to 5th instead of 2nd normally, if your car immediatly bogs, clutch is okay. if it slips, then clutch.

another test, go on hill, put it in 3rd and attempt to go, slip = clutch going bad.

If it's gonna slip, I guess it would slip at the point where torque is highest; 6200rpm for GSR.(!)

This'll sound like abusing the clutch & I suppose it is. So don't do it a hundred times... Drive along in 3rd or 4th, at a speed where you would be way below 6000 rpm. Disengage the clutch, rev to 6200 & try to engage the clutch. It'll either grab & bring the engine down to where it should be, or it'll slip & let the engine rev.

Bleed the slave cylinder. If looking for a new clutch, i went with an excedy hf01 lightened flywheel and excedy stg 1 clutch, best combo in my opinion. Very drivable and grips like a bitch. good luck

Start car.

Put car in 3rd gear.

Slowly release clutch pedal.

If the engine stalls, clutch = good. If not, it may be time to replace.

I love my Exedy Stage 1 clutch. I use it with a stock flywheel and it works great. You only need appx. 10-20% more force to push down the clutch pedal with the Exedy compared to stock, very doable if you don't want to work to drive your car, like me. I'm putting 183HP/133TQ to the ground and have no slippage, so for your future plans it would work out great for you.
btw, forget about the MSD ignition, it unnecessary.

At the very least do this first to see if it affects the problem at all. Then worry about replacing the clutch.

agreed! that might alieviate your problem. If you have to get a clutch I would look into action clutches, specifically action 1ks

loss of hydraulic pressure would not cause slippage.
