What exactly does it do? Tell the fan when to switch on? I'm not real sure on that and will the car start without it being plugged in?

 

the coolent temp. sensor is what your temp gauge in your dash gets it signal from yes your car can run with out it i wouldn't sujest it thow and i beleave the fan works of a different senor but i may be wrong

The Coolant temperature sensor has nothing to do with the gauge..

The coolant temperature sensor tells the ecu what the temp of the
coolant is so that the mixture can be adjusted for those conditions..
A bad signal can cause flooding/hard starting..


The fan switch is on the back of the block near the oil filter..

Hmmm I'm throwing a code 6 on my LS swap and it wont start. Also the fan switch in the back is disconnected. So what your staying is that the fan switch isnt a code 6 there is something wrong with my sensor under the dizzy?

So could this be what is stopping my car from starting?

The car will start if that sensor isn't plugged in. I forgot to hook it back up last weekend, when the car started I threw a code 6.

 

Well thats not my problem then. I dont know what is I cant get my swap to turn over to save my life. I'm getting fuel and spark, but its not that strong. I've already swap out 3 different dizzy and its the same thing everytime. I'm pretty sure my grounds are good I've been over them about 3 times. Anyone have any idea what else it could be..

 

coolent temp sensor tells your vehicle the the engine temperature telling it on a cold morning to dump more fuel to hold idle and if it senses that the thermostat opening up isnt enof too cool off the engine it turns the fan on till it reaches the desired temperature

 

Yea I understand that. What I'm having an issue with now is not starting period. Maybe I should create another thread about it.
