Default 99-00 style civic bumper on a 96-98 civic.... does it exist in the US???

A few years back... my friend picked up some Option magazines in Hong Kong and there was an ad in there where a 99+ civic bumper was on a 96-98 civic without any headlight/fender/hood modifications. I figured that someone out there would make a replica sooner or later but nobody has caught on to this spectacular idea. Why not design a bumper that has the lower portion of a 99-00 civic on a 96-98 civic. With all these stupid body kits out there... you would figure someone would want to do this and make griploads of money. This can also apply to 94-97 integra's and 98-01 integra's. Most people like the 98-01 fronts more but this is an easier conversion because you don't have to replace fenders and the hood. just bumper and headlights.

Anyone ever see the EK conversion before???

you might want to take a couple more looks, and make sure its not just a 99-00 conversion.

Isn't i possible to just cut those portions out yourself and make some brackets for the fogs?

I wonder a lot of times why companies haven't made replicas of certain parts. I think a replica '99-'00 bumper would sell well with the '96-'98 crowd (unless that crowd also likes the '99-'00 headlights better). But I've always wondered why there are no replicas in ABS plastic of. . . .

SiR lips
Spoon Sports lips (in black, not the white plastic ABS Dynamics has for the '99-2000 Civic)

I think both of those items would sell really well. Even if the designs aren't spot-on but relatively close, people would still pay for them. Newman said he tried to fab a replica Spoon Sports lip in ABS plastic, but it was too hard to get good fitment with plastic or something like that.

Ok, so what exactly about the 99-00 front bumper dooes not fit on the 96-98? I don't see why a lil trimming wouldn't make the bumper fit. Or even to just custom cut the fog light holes out on the 96-98 to fit 99-00 fogs.

look at the headlights on that green sedan. those are definately 96-98 headlights... it is so easy to tell the headlights apart. the 99-00's are more pointed at the corners where they meet the fenders, while the 96-98's are rounded. im about to call my friend and see if i can try to put his Si bumper on my car... if it works a WHOLE lot of people would be very happy.

common now... it will not even come close to making a good fit. to many gaps. you can actually put a 96-98 hood on a 99+ but it still has gaps. i saw this when i was doing the conversion. if only it were that easy. i have done a conversion before but now i have another 96 ek and am trying to figure out an easier way to do this.

Anybody wanna cut up a 96 bumper and a 99 bumper and put it together? Someone that has some skills with bondo and whatever else it takes. !!! I have an extra 96 bumper and i can buy a cheap 99 one in the honda tech classifieds or something. located in so cal...

And i was making a general POV about girls because they wouldn't even notice if you changed the whole front end.

Actually, my ex can clearly tell the difference so how bout you educate your girl. Secondly, I know how to do the conversion and the parts needed so back off. Thirdly, I've never sat down with a 96-98 and 99-00 bumper to try and see fitment differences, therefore I asked the question why is it that you can't simply do some modifying to fit it. If ppl can fit a RSX front on a 96-00 civic, I don't see why the idea of modifying a 99-00 bumper onto a 96-98 is so far fetched. Stop taking your anger of your gf's ignorance out on me. This is a forum where we share info and exchange ideas, I'm simply bringing up a topic to discuss.

This pic was shot in Manila, Philippines on a used car sale in Ortigas, Pasig. Its a 96 civic VTi PDM y0! The bumper was modified to fit the 96. With fiberglass, bondo, and old filipino enginuity, you can do almost anything to a car. We even have 22-seater 2004 CRV around here. Talking about fabricating a Limo CRV from scratch is just fawking awesome!

What motor is powering this limo CRV? The stock 4 cylinder?

Actually, I already stated that I can clearly see the difference between a 96-98 and a 99-00, I also didn't miss the orginal idea behind this thread, I was simply bringing up another topic related to this. It's easy for you to mouth off to someone you've never met isn't it? It makes you feel better about yourself? I could be an *** and just tell you to STFU and just either convert your front end to a 99-00 or shove it up your ***, but instead, I'm tryin to formulate an alternative to get the look you want without the conversion.

At no point was I not on your side about this idea so I don't know who you're tryin to E-Thug. I asked severel times why not just simply make the cut outs for the 99-00 fogs and no one responded so I moved onto the next idea which was to modify the 99-00 bumper to fit without converting the entire front end. I'm trying to be as civil as possible right now but I see no point in your uneccessary reactions and comments so I'll leave you with this

Bottom Line: If I'm an ***, then you're an ignorant **** who can't understand the concept of a forum to share ideas and have discussions.

But this guy just wants the front bumper rather than the whole conversion, watch out before he bites your head off like he did with me for "not understanding"

Dear Peanut gallery,

We all know that if you have the whole front end (hood, fenders, bumper, and headlights) it will work. The guy was just asking why a company hasnt put out a front BUMPER that looks like the 99-00 but fits on 96-98.
