Default bogging down with spoon ecu?

i have a jdm b18cr swap with spoon cams. just installed a spoon p73 ecu, and i went out on a test drive. i felt this bog when vtec hits at 5000 rpm, then the car accelerates. does anybody have the same experience with this combo? to be honest the car felt better with the standard p73 ecu, think i just wasted my money with the spoon ecu

I would say most people who have gotten this ECU seem to have simliar reactions. Thats just from what I've read over time on the board. But, as far as your bogging issue, what are your other related mods? Like have you changed any of your fuel setup, exhaust, etc...

the engine is stock, aside from the spoon cams. i didn't feel this bog when i was running the stock p73 box. i'm sure this bog isn't normal, as i would think that spoon tuned their ecu with the spoon cams specifically in mind

Bog=Rich. Buy a VAFC and lean it out, or turn down the fuel pressure. Mugen racer is right, they 'tune' their ECU with full I/H/E and cams. Your setup doesnt need all that fuel yet.

I'm pretty sure with any mods, you will need tuning done to the motor. Thats why "chips" scare me. My kenji seems to be working out fine for now, but tuning is needed forsure. Just my opinion tho. I hope things work out for you.

the cams cost me less than $400. btw i got the whole spoon p73 ecu, not just a rechip. actually its not really a major bog, its more of a hesitation, like the engine is taking a deep breath, then it accelerates. guess i need to tune it at a dyno

WERD! make sure you get a wideband o2 on there and see whats doin. See if your tuner can fiddle with a vafc or something maybe and smooth things out for you.

That`s strange , I too have the original Spoon Sports ECU and mine don`t bogs ! My cams are factory ones and mine works fine. the mods I have are listed in my garage web page. Try to take it to a tuner like the guys said and see what is going on with the air/fuel ratio. what other mods you have to your B18C ?

Btw if anyone knows a set of cheap spoon cams contact me

About a year ago,i had Marlon's Spoon Ecu installed on my Itr and it felt like ****! as it hits V-tech,the car used to bogg and as it hits 6000rpm on the tach,it runs fast. It felt more powerful than stock but that bogging really pissed me of and that's why i preffered a kenji p28 Ecu.
Still can't figure out why!!

marlonn88, the car didn't bog when i still had the stock itr cams and spoon ecu, it only surfaced when i put in the spoon cams. jdm 98specr, your experience is exactly like mine, the bogging sucks big time. i put back my stock ecu and the car feels much better. anybody ever open up their spoon ecu? the spoon chip is version 6, maybe the newer versions are better?
