Default a few important fuel rail and afpr questions

ok, first off, i have an NX wet kit installed right now, and for the fuel supply i have the end cap of the fuel rail tapped because that's how i did it on my last car.

secondly, i have an AEBS intake manifold, and the sensor that's on the second or third runner (i don't know if i start count from the left or right, but it's the 3rd runner if you start from the left) is RIGHT NEXT to the fuel regulator. On the stock intake mani the sensor was on the far right runner, so it didn't interfere at all.

next item...i want to add a little fuel to my motor, so i was thinking about getting a new fuel rail and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I know that the stock fuel rail will be fine for my application, but the way i see it if i'm in there anyways i might as well make a simple upgrade anyways. Another reason for getting a new rail is because i'm hoping that wherever you hook up the afpr will not be right next to the sensor on the intake mani (i've never done fuel mods before, so i'm lost with them all).

lastly, which rail and regulator are good ones? I'm still new to hondas, and a virgin to fuel mods, so any and all help is appreciated here. And when i get these things, how do i set my fuel pressure, and what should it be at?

Thanks for anyone who can lend me some info.

sorry, have to add one more thing, i have a 91 crx si with a B16A swapped in.

and since i'm doing fuel mods, and since my car is about 14 years old or whatever, i should get a new fuel pump. Which one and how strong? I had a Walbro in my TSI, and had nothing but problems with it. What do you guys run?

I would have to say that most of the aftermarket fuel rails are pretty much all the same without any one being better than another so you can't really make a mistake.

B&M makes an inexpensive FPR and comes with instructions on how to adjust the pressure and where it should be at. AEM makes a nicer one but more money.

My question to you would be why do you feel you need to add more fuel to your engine? The problem with adjustable FPR's is that if you increase the fuel pressure, it will richen up the fuel curve across the board. Most Honda fuel curves require a reduction in fuel at some points and an increase at other points so it's not a very accurate way to tune your car. I would suggest that you look into getting a SFAC or VAFC if you want to add fuel properly to your engine and get it tuned using a wideband O2 or on a dyno somewhere.

Unless your fuel pump is weak or in bad shape, I see no reason to get a new or higher flowing one.

i want to do it just for a little insurance with the added airflow that my current mods give. I have a short ram intake, 70-68mm tb, aebs intake mani, an-r compact header, exedy full-face organic clutch, exedy lightweight flywheel, and other smaller stuff.

i know the clutch and flywheel don't add flow, but they are just my other main mods so i threw them in. Also, i'm building up a spare head i have sitting under my bed, so i'm also sort of preparing for the future with the fuel mods so i don't short myself of them later.

If you're doing all that stuff, then you're going to need a SFAC/VFAC at minimum or a Hondata type of fuel/engine management to make it all work properly and get maximum power out of it safely. If you look at all the mods I have in my signiture, I still run the stock FPR. The only time an adjustable FPR is normally used effectively is when your fuel injectors are borderline or slightly undersized for your engine's power level. Using the adjustable FPR and raising the fuel pressure will trick the fuel injectors into delivering more fuel making them act like larger injectors than they actually are. Then using a fuel management system with it will help fine tune the fuel curve so it's not to rich or lean in any area.
