I know that the front end is different, and that the tail lights are slightly different, but is there anything else that's different between them?

Like options or painted side moldings or door handles etc.

 

I think the interior is a little different too.

Only in 2000.

The climate control and lower consoles are different. One is OBD2A and the other is OBD2B. Like you mentioned, the front end, tail lights, and I think the rear bumper.

 

also....the 96-98 hatches can be opened from inside, by the gas lever. where as the 99-00 hatchbacks have a handle on the back

 

the cupholder is different 96-98 has a cover 99-00 don't

it's only the 96-97. i had a 98 and it was on the outside too.
