Help!! Will it be ok to put 13" rims on a crx with a d16y8
Ok so im swapping cars with this guy. Im getting a 91 crx with a 2000 d16y8 engine in it. Hes getting my 93 civic hatch dx. Ive got 13's and hes got 14's. We are gonna swap wheels cuz i have new tires with warranty.
Is it safe to do this wheel swap? Will it mess up the engine? Will it mess up the gas mileage and make it rev higher while cruising at 65 in 5th?
Im really not worried about looks, i just care about safety and effeciancy.
I already know if will give an off the line increase and that it will throw the speedo off.
Please help. I dont want to blow the engine or tranny.

The rim size is not the important thing, its the tire size. I have 16" rims on my civic but when I put them next to the 14" ones I took off, they are the same size around. What size are the tires on each car? No matter what size the tires are, they will not hurt the motor or tranny. Here is a calculator to see if the different size tires will affect your speedometer.

not if the outside diameter of the tires is basically the same.

Check out the link I gave you. Put in the sizes of the tires on both cars and see how much of a difference there is. How much more help do you need. Nobody can tell you what will happen. We don't even know what size the tires are. I gave you the info you need, now figure it out.

wow....
what are the tires sizes? its as easy as telling us that.
more than likely its fine, but if you would have told us the tire sizes already this topic would have been concluded.

I think youll be fine in 5th gear yo if the tire sizes are close to the same height on the rim than u dont have to worry about ****. Good luck with the rex keep us posted
Just as long as your 13 will fit over the brakes of the new car..
I know my 13's will not fit on 95 ex brakes..
