you should buy an "autolock" there is no way a thief can get passed it.. yet they can still take your deck, subs, amp, ect.. its still better than getting your entire car stolen tho http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...&rd=1

i live in southeast sd and cars get stolen a grip around here..

get new door handle wit no key holes.. thats wut i got...but then u would need keyless entry...also wut i did on mine was cut the metal piece inside ur door panel that goes to ur door lock switches on the door panel and if they try to use a slim gim or somethin it cant open it bcuzz ur door lock switch on the door panel doesnt work..then again u will need keyless entry...now if u deside to do those then mount the door lock switch somewhere where it would be hard to reach for..cant tell u where mine is..

I hope your not serious that there is "No Way" a thief can get passed it. I saw pictures of a car that was stolen from san diego with the autoloc on it...when the cops found the car fully stripped the autolock was still on the pedal Or, ever heard of a tow truck...autoloc or no autoloc a tow truck owns all

The truth of the matter is that if a theif really wants your he's gonna get it. If you dont want your honda/acura stolen.....drive something else

EDIT: btw my hatch was stolen 2 times before i decided to stop driving it

Park in a garage. I have an alarm, onstar, and lo jack on my car with full coverage insurance and gap insurance. It helps me sleep at night/

the autolock is fully beatable and there are pictures if you search. there are two options to beat the autolock. one is tow, the other is to fairly simple to do but requires tools and takes a bit more time.

search the threads if you want to know how its done.

the autolock only prevents amateur and intermediate theives from taking your car...
i have it on my car and it is better than an alarm in my opinion when you're not close to your car.

the second best are kill switches.

i would also recommend getting the boot...lock all your wheels.

the point is to make it hard and time consuming for the thief to steal your car. you can not make the car 100% steal proof unless you hire an armed guard.

Here is some actual info, instead of useless banter

Find your hot (12v) wire that goes back to your fuel pump under the rear seat. Make sure this is the wire that is hot when the car is running. Turn off the car, undo the neg. batt. terminal and cut that wire in half. Splice a toggle switch into that wire and hide it right under your seat. You can run the wires inder the carpet and bring them up with the seatbelt "indicator" harness under your seat. This would take a while to bypass since you have to get under the rear seat to re-connect the wires. Also, make sure you put a 10 or 15 amp fuse inline with that switch, preferebly within 12" of the splice. Also: If you get an alarm, have a stereo shop (or whoever installs it) to extend the wires about 5 feet. In my car, I have the wires extended and my alarm actaully rests under my center console. I also have a hard plastic tube on my steering column which the hot wires run thru. makes it harder to cut them. Also, if you want a quick fix, pull the ECU fuse or the starter relay from under the hood when you get outta your car. Like the others said tho, a tow truck is tought to beat. But then again, most theives of Hondas do not use that method.

An alarm is only as good as the installer. The one Best Buy put in could be bypassed in seconds. I finally went to a creative professional alarm installer, who showed me that an alarm could be an effective deterrent, but it wasn't cheap like the Best Buy option. My car would now be a PITA to steal, plus it's 2-way so I'd know someone was going after it. If I'm leaving it for any period of time, like at airport parking, or if I'm at a hotel, I take the ECU and coilpacks with me. So a thief could still take it, but at least they would have to work for it.

Thats all good, but does an alarm slow down a thief when they use a flatbed?

How long would it take for a thief to take off 4 "boots" if you did decide to put them on your car?

I would say the best bet is to get a garage

here are some pointers.

1. get an alarm that has a proximity sensor. that way you can set it so if someone steps 3 feet from your car it makes a loud noise. some people can get away with this others cant stand it.

2. make sure your alarm fuses (you will have two) are placed inside your engine area and not below under the dash.

3. relocate your hood release ( mine is only accessible if you jacked the car up<key point if its hard for you to reach its hard for the thiefs to reach)

4. wire your alarm so your cars horn also goes on as the alarm is triggered (putting another siren under the seat is good also)

5. once your alarm system is done, wrapp all the main wires including your ignition wires in metal ( they sell metal strapes at home depot> they use it to hold your water heater to the wall) this prevents any cutting of any wires. time consuming but very effective. its a pain in the *** if you have electrical problems >> but you will still have a car to work on.. then tape the metal in black eletrical tape if you choose to do that also.

6. remember you have an "oem" kill switch.. and its called your main relay. simply unplug it and your fuel pump is dead. no cutting no adding of wires.

7. use an autolock and also the club.<<< this is just to slow them down a bit.

8. always set your alarm to chirp that way you can tell that you siren is still working and not cut in any fashion (for example you take your car to get fixed and the mechanic who is a thief cuts your siren wire, to come get it later on)

9. get a boot

10. oh before i forget depending on your alarm you get ,,, you can fit the brain behind your gauge cluster. remember once they find the brain the alarm can be disabled

11. and most important thing to remember... finish your layered security first then get the bling items for your car... too many people want to look cool first and worry about theft later... dont be one of those people...

or you could always just live in an area with low theft rates?? No saying CA is a bad place(well yes I am) lol.....just had a bad experience out there, didnt like the place, but some of the people I met were cool as ****, but back on topic......I think he should invest in a really good alarm, and maybe a fuel cutoff switch, but like this guy said, a tow truck will take care of all of this......sucks, b.c a thief would much rather steal someone who has worked hard for their ****, rather that get a job and work hard for it as you did

your best bet is to install a kill switch and lower your car to the ground that would make it hard to tow

You could do that...but that also probably means your cruising by yourself on Friday nights...

cxSHOE, can you show us what you mean by "metal strapes"? I don't see it on the Home Depot website search.

I think he meant metal straps... sort of like looming the wires in metal. Although, I'm not really shure what product to use to do this effectively either. Any hints, tips, pics? I have some wires that need to be metal wrapped. PM me if you don't want to divulge your secrets to the world, lol.

MC electrical wire. That kind've wire loom. That stuff can be easily snapped in half and cut with snips.
