Default headlights flicker when touching brakes...

I dont remember this happening before I installed this new block. As soon as I apply any amount of brake pressure, my headlights flicker and then come back on like normal. Im pretty sure all the grounds are secure(Ill double check tomorrow), the alternator belt is snug, and battery is fairly recent. What else should I look for? Im not too great with electrical ****.

You just named all the things I would have told you to double check.

Yo!

I was guessing wiring harness jiggling loose... except you said touching the brake with "any amount of pressure".

If I was you, I'd check it again with the car stopped. Touch the brake, see what happens. If it does the same thing with the car stopped...

-- Alternator/battery (hope not)
-- bad ground from the battery to chassis, or anywhere else for that matter

One small note, light bulbs draw much more current when you first turn them on. When cold their resistance is very low. When they heat up (that filament is VERY hot), their resistance is a lot higher. That would explain why they dim and then come back, if you had some grounding/bad battery/etc.

definitely not something jiggling lol If I press the brake just light enough to get the brake lights to come on, it still does it. If it was a bad alternator or battery, then wouldnt I most likely be seeing some rough starts, sorta like a weak battery? Thats not happening. Maybe Ill just get one of those grounding kits and redo all the grounds.

From your latest post ... I'd also start checking for some type of short in and around the brake pedal switch.

Just a guess. Good luck finding it. Ed

Turn the key to the on position and turn the headlights on. Hit the brakes and see if they dim. If they dim without the car running then you have a ground problem. It if only does it while the car is running I bet it's your alternator.

He did say "flicker", not dim.

Like Ed said, check wires around brake pedal. GL.
