Need HELP with lowering my Type-R.
Hello,
Now, before anybody says anything about the search button, I searched and read ALL the treads on lowering springs for the R. The springs that seemed to be brought up a lot, were the Spoon, H&R, and the Tein S. Now, I have comptech springs on my car now with stock struts, but I just recently bought 16" wheels with 205/45/16 tires, as you can see from the picture it left a gap between the tire and the fender. All I want to do is close the gap without messing up my suspension too much. I do not track the car or race it, it's simply for my enjoyment. Please help me find the best springs that will lower my car(to close the gap) but not screw up anything as far as having my car bounce around or slam my car. THANKS

That's just it, I'm not sure which springs to buy.......Spoon, H&R, etc. That's why I'm asking you fellow Type-R owners on this one, which ones will drop my car enough to close the gaps but not ruin my ride?

A lot of people have great things to say about the H&R sport springs. 2 friends of mine run them on their R's and like the ride. I think the drop would be a tiny bit lower than where your caR is at right now. BTW, I think your caR looks great as is.
I'm currently saving for a coilover setup

I agree. It's only a matter of time before the stock struts give the big "**** you" and refuse to do their job anymore. Simply installing springs in the long run is going to hurt your wallet. It would be advisable, to just save the money needed to get a proper coilover setup. I also think the ground control setup isn't that great.
Aloha,

You could do it the real ghetto way...use your stock springs after you cut them.
I am very happy with my Omni's for the money.

Hey, thanks for all the great comments and info.........so after thinking about what you guys said, which would be a great coilover setup? Forget the lowering springs only idea, I just thought coilovers were bad though? Can anyone recommend a great coilover setup(Brand), I don't want anything to cheap or too expensive. Will a coilover setup ruin the suspension that the ITR already has?
Thanks again for all the info, you guys are great.

O.K., just want to confirm, these cost about $1300? Does anybody disagree with or have complaints about these coilovers? Thanks for the input guys!!

i run the H&R sports springs
perfect drop, kinda soft in my opinion, but not bad, makes the ride a tad more bumpy than stock
i run bilstein shocks, great shocks
your car looks great, but im not diggin the sides, at all

Get coilovers and get the stance that you want, make sure the spring rates are not too aggressive. The Tein flex is a good option but I hear they make some noise but most coilover systems do.
