They are both better.

Are you reffering to using the exhaust as a vacuum source?

no, sorry. I was talking about the vacuum hose from the valve cover to the intake pipe. When I got the car, there was no hose or breather the nipple on the valve cover was just left alone and the nipple on the intake was taped up. But I just got a new intake and it came with the hose so I dont know if its better to use the hose or to get a breather

Use the hose to the intake, and if you're worried about blow-by, put a catch can inline with it.
