Default Is your Teg safe?

Over the last few days I have noticed a high volume of stolen tegs.... especially in the socal area... just because it's happening in cali doesn't mean it won't happen here on the east side....yeah it's sad... I want to make this a kind of check point or heads up for everyone... If you have an alarm, that's great but there's never TOO much security... I know that 99% of us can not afford to have our Tegs stolen away from us... It is a big investment if you haven't realized... Please have more securities for your cars... Thanks for reading... and if you have any tips or comments please post them...

agreed...simple things like a fuel cut off switch ($5) and hood latch relocation (free) are things we should all make sure we do....simple things that will keep your car yours.

good idea with the heads up

That only works if you can be next to it 24/7, thieves suck!

I agree people should invest in security. But why do people remake same posts over and over and over. Everyone that does not have the brains to have full coverage, and or some security on their integra is probably too ignorant to read "keep your car safe" posts. The only things these posts do is get alot of the same responses over and over.

in all reality a gun is useless because they come in the middle of the night when your sleeping. of whenever your not there , like at work or school.
99% of the time the theives are never even seen

all you can do is stuff that will slow them down. like kill switch, hood cable relocate, alarm, club, autolock, bacjup battery, etc

and about geting full coverage
full coverage is not for everyone its only for ppl with newer cars that are worth a deceant amount of money
for example people that own DA's has no point for geting full coverage because the car is not worth anything, full coverage insurance alone will be worth more than the car.
i think full coverage is only for cars worth a min of 6,000

Just as a reminder as to how many people really are out there to take away our pride and joy, When I see a nice integra I think about how much time and care the owner has put into it and how much respect I would be giving them, when thieves see a nice integra they ask them selvs how much that part would sell for or what it would look like on their car, I know, its a pitty
I own a 87 ls its crap and I have had people talk to me as if they were goin to find it while im asleep and steal it,
here is a pic,

I mean I do have I/H/E and some other stuff but it looks like crap, for a week untill i get my paintjob, yay in a week!

yup makes you wonder why anybody would want to steal it, :Shakes head:

:Sighs: oh well,

Later,

EXACTLY! A lot of cars are stolen infront of where you live in the middle of the night. The only way to avoid having that happen is to try to park your car in a garage! When i used to live at an apartment, my car rims were stolen once, and there was an attempt to steal my entire car another time. Basically dont leave anything valuable in plain view, and get to know your neighbors so they can keep an eye/ear on your car as well. (thats how i ended up getting my rims back!). I also used to set my alarm, autolock, and pull my ecu out. Just my .02

the reason why i "re-made" this post is because this is a problem that should be mentioned... i know that it shouldn't even have to be because we should be able to be secure enough to let our cars stay in our front yards or a parking lot... but in reality, people will take our ****... just wanted to remind everyone that still has thier car to have precaution before it's too late... i would hate to keep seeing nice STOLEN tegs on HT

Hood lock might save you big time..well yes.they can still jack it..but much less chance to get in..they want do it quick..hood lock will take them more time to get to it.. i got my NRG carbonfiber hood lock from (ImAzn) $31 ..shipped in 3days

one big don't:

don't spend $50 bucks and think your car is going to be safe. The club and autolock (for the pedals) are only a false sense of security. Check out this link to see why:
http://www.clubbuster.com/clubbuster.htm

there are also other ways to get those things off in minutes, if not seconds.
You must invest in a quality alarm install with multiple kill switches (I said install cause it doesn't really matter how great the alarm is, if not installed with skill and creativity, it can be useless.
then invest in a more secure locking mechanism.
and like mentioned above.....
relocating the hood release cable (getting a hood lock, even better)
cutoff switch
remove a spark plug wire
there are other things that have been mentioned before.....I'll do a search later and link it to this thread....that way at least these kind of threads are all linked to each other.

If you invest a lot of time and money into your vehicle, you have to do the same with your anti-theft devices, no gimmicks like Rob said, proven theft deterent systems, if that doesn't work well enough you could always do what I did...
shave the door handles and locks,
https://honda-tech.com/gara...96016
makes it harder to steal, breaking glass is fine if your stealing parts, but not the car itself. Just a thought

Oh wow, I never knew that there were devices to break the club and the autolock.

I have both and I felt really secure.... I guess I need to invest in other things now.

Yah im really tal, 6ft 4" and im only 16, 17 in October so I still got tim to grow,
Yah im goin to get it painted silver I found the same car at the junkyard in silver here is a pic

yes its at a junkyard but it gave me a look in person as to how my car would look in silver,

i think it looks good in silver,
I am trying to make the hardest decision ever

#1:To keep this car and make it bad,

#2r to save and buy a DA,

It is so much easier to buy stuff for the DA and much easier to swap in motors so I think I am goin to go with the DA but I love my 1st gen teg so much.
I also think I might keep this car for the rest of the year and while I am moding this car save up for a DA to buy over the winter of 2005-2006

Guess we'll see.....

Here is another pic that makes me look like a monster sitting on a toy

Thanks, Later

so what if there are ways around the autolock & club...at least it'll make the thieves have to go that extra mile to get your car.

plus, IMO, it buys you time. lets say it takes 5 minutes to break the autolock/club, thats 5 mins they spend in your car...thats a 5 minute window in which people could be walking by noticing suspicious activity...thats my 2 cents

yeah, but why waste money on those items if you don't already have them. Now if you have them, definitely put them to use cause a big part of security is layers....they could be part of your layers, just not very effective layers.
