Whenenver I put my HIDs in without projectors, I was able to put the bulb right in. You may have to bend the bulb holder a little, but it should still fit in.

Don't just put the bulbs in, that'll blind the **** out of everybody. Projector retrofit...

The reason projectors cause problems with cops is because people DONT put projectors in with HIDs.

^^ I assume he meant that the reason people get pulled over is because cheap bastards use just the HID bulbs, which causes the light to be thrown all over the place - blinding on coming traffic.

You don't tend to get pulled over if you are using the projectors, because the beam pattern is corrected and no one is getting blinded.

In case you are not aware: It is ILLEGAL, period, to have HID systems in a car that did not come with it. Even if you have projectors.

However, if you have projectors, then you are not violating the spirit of the law since you are not a danger to anyone on the road.

I could be wrong... but i think i did remember reading that it is legal to have them in, as long as they have a leveling device (corrects the aim of the projector as the car hits bumps, slight up/downhills. I know 3 series bmws have this.

But again, i could be wrong---or perhaps even my source could be.

IMO, HID & halogen reflector is one of the worst things you can do. Glare to the max.

I can think of no disadvantage from having projectors.

If you're not ready for a retrofit, maybe you should just get a "kit" that has HID capsules that are sized to fit your stock housing.

You can put for example Volvo V40 HID reflectors. They'll fit the prelude headlight probably. They're not projectors but look like regular H4 and they're HIDs.

yeah, a reflector retro is pretty much cutting out the reflector bowl off a HID equipted car using reflectors instead of projectors. Also, relector system uses D2R bulbs for glare control.
