You mean the piping? Coz I know for a fact the muffler wasn't the same ( but I'm sure you know that too ).

ok I'm not too familiar with that term. Are you referring to the piping coming off of the header? The cat to the muffler or?

Yes. The Type R exhaust bolts right in and visa versa. The material and size are different when compared to the lower models. I don't think it would be logical for Honda to create such a huge part that is completely different from fitting eight or nine different cars in their line up. That would not be cost effective and mas production is all about cost effectiveness. *shrug
