It just means that something is being bumped back up to the top of a forum. At least thats what i get out of it.

 

Everytime someone new posts in a thread, the thread automatially goes back up to the top of the page. when people say bump, they just want the thread back up at the top of the list. You might see TTT which means To The Top, same concept.
