Default Picked up a brand new VIS hood with a deffect...will it last?

I picked up a Brand New in Box VIS hood off a local guy...price was pretty good since they don't come around often. Anyways...the hood was slightly bumped durring shipping, and has a mark on it about the size of a penny or dime. Was wondering if moisture will get in it and ruin the hood? Are there any preventive measures I can take? Here are some pics:

maybe get some clearcoat in a touch up bottle and dab t on to keep the original clear coat from flaking off even more

yeah dude tape off around the mark with masking tape, and go get some clear coat in a can and spray some on there, do a good job and you wont even be able to tell

it will save your ***, becuase like you said moisture will get in there, it will spread and eventually get worse, but if you stop it now, it wont get any worse

So so of the clear coat they sell at Kragen's basically? Or do you recommend something better? Should I sand it down first? I also asked my dad...he was suggesting using some resin on it aswell.
