NHRA... is it legal to use plexiglas windows??
does it matter?
I really dont have a class in mind, as i was just going to build a hobby race car for test and tuen days, and if i could make it legal for competition, then i will. My local track isnt NHRA sanctioned, so pretty much anything goes, but i'd like to run it at NHRA sanctioned tracks nearby as well.
my plans for the car include slicks, body/chassis cutting (weight reduction), etc., so it wouldn't be a street class car obviously....
what class do you all suggest that i aim for?

and because i forgot in the last post...
my car is an 89 CRX, and i plan on doing the side windows, quarter windows, and the window in the hatch, leaving the windshield regular glass until i can afford a preshaped lexan window..

I believe plexiglas will turn into a lethal weapon in case of an accident. Also it will not stand up to the abuse of drag racing and just splinters and gets cloudy.
well i know that i want to atleast replace the hatch and hatch windows.. those are very heavy. As long as i get thick enough plexiglass it should be okay right? maybe even brace it in the center like those sub competition trucks that have the braced windshields..
You'll want to use Lexan, not plexiglas. It's a much better choice.
Neither is a problem at NHRA tracks, for the test and tunes and ET Brackets that you'll be running in. NHRA Sport FWD and NHRA Street Stock require OEM safety glass, as they are "street legal" classes. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problems.
