Boost Gauge In Hand. Something not right? *PICS*
Got my cheap boost gauge today, its a Faze gauge
I notieced that the vacuum line it uses is *** small though, like 4mm OUTER dieameter and I dont even know what I can connect it to that small, definetely not my DIY vacuum manifold

And for ****, heres me blowing into the end making a whopping 1.5psi of boost lol, must be the cake I ate

Now what I wanna do is just take some fairly nice 5/16" inner diameter hose from work which will clamp on my vacuum mani just fine and then just take the fitting off of the back of the unit and put the vacuum line right over the threads of where the fitting ataches to..... work fine?

My autometer gauge came with a vinyl line like that. Nothing wrong with it. You can get rubber adapters that go from that tiny line to a 5/16" connector. I've seen them at parts stores. The autometer actually came with one.
Just thought of this, what if I cut off the end end of the vinyl line, stick it in a rubber hose, clamp that end, and continue to run my rubber to the vacuum manifold...

I wish i had more pictures of mine, but this is what I did. (pretty much what everyone else has said) but i bought some vaccumm line and it fit on there tightly, but i still ran a zip tie around it to make it seal. so far, no problems.

You use the two fittings and the little ferrule on the end of your nylon hose. Then you screw in a barbed fitting onto the end of the ferrule/fittings. Then you just put your vacuum line from the IM and plug it into the barbed fitting
If you can find the ferrule/fittings at your local hardware store you can order it from http://www.summitracing.com Part number ATM-3223 for the one with the 6ft nylon hose and ATM-3226 has the 12ft nylon hose. If you order either kit from summit it will only be about $10-$15.
EDIT: here is how my stuff is gonna be set up. The nylon hose is gonna go from the gauge/pod then through the firewall to the engine bay where I will hook it up like in my pic below. Then the other end of the blue vacuum hose will go to my GE vacuum manifold. You might be able to find all the fittings and ferrules at your local hardware store. Just bring the nylon hose so you can make sure the ferrule fits over it (thats the small brass thing on the hose).

i just have mine just pushed into the vacum line
and its being over 10 mths boosting 10 psi and it hasnt come off yet

I think I'm with BlueShadow on this one, that's a clean setup. Then again..if I get lazy I might just go with USDM 4G VTEC's plan, use a little glue/sealant and call it a day.

Yah, you have to be careful with the nylon hose because you cant bend or kink it otherwise it could throw off your readings.

you guys are making this harder then it is. Take off the compression fitting and just put a like 6mm vac line on it and zip tie it and call it a day. ive done it plenty of times with no issues..
i just took the vac line that used to go into my cruise control(it hooks up to the intake manifold to a little tiny nipple) and ziptied the nylon line into the vac line...then stuck the vac line back onto the intake manifold.
When I had a mechanical boost gauge (for about a week till I decided it was junk and got a greddy), I just pushed silicone vacuum hose over the fitting on the back of the boost gauge and zip tied it. Worked fine.

Its cool, there was 2 fitting on the gauge on the back of the unit, I only took off the one at first and the inner diameter fo the line to fit over it would have to be lime 1cm, but I just noticed another part was threaded and now the hole is perfect and will work with standard vacuum line
