Default White Smoke, Searched already just checkin

So I got my new dizzy and my b16 sir II(95) in my 95 ex coupe fired up for the first time tonight, finally. Anyways I had alot of white smoke and it seemed my engine was producing alot of heat, but the temp guage never went past 1/4th mark like usual. My fan never did click on, but maybe it just didnt need to. The radiator wasnt damaged or anything, but it started to get realy hot, as well as the hoses to the radiator. Im going to bleed my cooling system tomarrow as I think thats the reason.
Is it possible that air in the system would cause it to burn coolant and heat up the hoses like that?? Its a 95 b16 so it prolly was sitting for a while..
Anyways, no milky oil or oil in coolant etc, so I dont think its a head gasket. Just seeing if its possible that air in the lines would cause it to puff white smoke until its bled out. Got to late for me to do it so I just left it off..

Also, on the passanger side, it seems like the axle came out about a 1/4th or 1/2 inch from the tranny, and we barly tightened the hub nut onto the axle just enough to stake it, cause it didnt seem like it wanted to be long enough, Im thinking we might have sucked the axle out of the tranny? The other side is fine, im gonna see if I can dead blow it back in..Any ideas?

BTW, to all who helped me get my first swap done myself, you all rock.
Thank you for your patience and knowledge that everyone has contributed to this site. I hope you back it up alot because it would be a shame to loose it on a rollback..
Thanks again guys

White smoke is usually a good indication of coolant/water being burned. Meaning you might have a bad head gasket! (EEEK!) Good job on the swap though!

Yeah, coulld be a bas thermostat that is causing it to heat up, the smoke could be from sitting for a long period of time. If it still does it after you run it for a bit than you have a problem, see if the coolant mixed with the oil.

well your hoses are going to reach a pretty good temprature, and get really hot, nothing you can do about about that, as fas as the fan, the thermostat may be stuck open and you may have to replace, I would do that first, being a thermostat is only like 10 bucks I think? But white smoke is an indication of a blown headgasket. Start your car up, ana have someone rev it up, and you go to the exhaust and smell it, if it smells kind of sweet, (like exhaust SHOULDNT smell) then it is probably a headgasket....good luck with your problem though

Doesnt really smell sweet, today I looked at the oil again after it sitting over night it was fine, not milky or anything.
I started up the car and it smells normal, no white smoke until I reved it up a bit.
However the coolant resevoir was almost at min and yesterday it was at max...So I must be burning coolant or it finally sucked it up into the engine...?
Ill unhook my hoses and check the thermo later on..

i say replace thermo and bleed the air out completely..let it sit for a bit with out the rad cap on..maybe a new cap too..bad cap wont hold pressure right and lower the boiling point of the anti-freeze..if it keeps doing the same..head-Gasket

How long does it take to run this off?

Can this be fixed with an oil change?

There is no time limit on it. If it car is in cold or cool environment there is aways gonna be moisture. Its gonna smoke alittle. theres no stoppping that. And don'tr worry about the coolant in the resivior being low, thats just, that there was probably air in your coolant system, and the coolant replace it. If the smoke is thick and its stays in the air for a while or if your your dipstick comes up milky, or if you have oil in your coolant resivior then yuo'll have a problem. And if its been sitting there for a while in the cold, and then start it up you might also see some white **** under your oil cap. but its JUST moisture! Don't worry. When I put my b16a into my 98 civic I also saw white smoke, and it was smoking the whole time, and everytime, so I changed the head gasket. and it was still the same. So don't worry, if you drive around and your oil mark on the dip stick goes up, or if your coolant resivoir has oil in it then you'll have to worry.

People PLEASE stop with the head gasket. He just started the motor up for the FIRST time. Don't forget about a thing called moisture. There are a ton of threads about white smoke. And eveyone says its the headgasket. Its not like he was driving and beating his car and all of the sudden he sees a **** load of white smoke. You guys are gonna make people do unnecessary work for nothing.
