VIS Invader-style hood--will it help with keeping the engine bay cool?
Topic. I need a new hood, and since my supercharger runs so hot (I only got in 3 runs down the 1320 before I had to quit), I was thinking about an Invader hood.

It's ricey as hell, but If there's any chance that it'll help keep the engine cool by letting the heat out through the vents, I'll give it a shot. If not that, then maybe this thing...?

I'd be giving my car a serious identity crisis with an EVO-style hood, but like I said, I need a hood and I need help combating heat-soak.
I know the hoods are ricey, but looking stupid aside, do you guys think that they might help in keeping the engine cool? I'd appreciate any help with this, but please, no comments on how ricey the hoods are. I need help with the technical aspects of this. Thanks.

Maybe run 2 eg dual core 1/2 sized fans
Switch to a Hondata intake manifold gasket, drastically reduces heat
Switch the cooling fan so its always on
Remove thermostat
Instead of buying a hood, place 2-6washers under the hood bolts to raise the hood at the back of the bay a bit, reduces heat and allows heat to escape easier
Me personally went wiht a vented fiberglass hood because I liked the look and the weight of the 6 pound hood, I thought mine was called an Invader but I guess not. Never really bought it to reduce heat because Ive done all of the above except dual rad's

Hey,
That would be a really BAD idea man. Thermostats are in an engine for a reason. Once the engine gets to a certain temp. It allows flow. if you have constant flow....and live in colder elevations....you WILL have alot of problems. If not blow the engine. I mean hey if you got the cash for a new engine every couple years GO FOR IT.... ^_^ I prefer to spend my cash in...other ways.
Almost ASE certified,
Rich

im running turbo and alot of ppl told me to take out my thermo. telling me it would run cooler,Ha,what a damn joke.that thing was overheating like a **** constantly.so needless to say it went back in.
but yea if you got a jackson roots blower, def. get a hondata IM gasket.also aquamist makes a nice water injection for it.

I've seen people doing that in the cosmetic forum, calling it the JDM hood pop. Seems like a pretty good idea. Anybody else have anything to add?

EDIT: I'll do a search, but is there anything special about the eg fans?
