Default DX header

ok, to make a header fit on my 00 dx, I would need:

1) an exhaust made for an EX/SI

2) a stock or aftermarket cat for an EX/SI

one of the things I was thinking about was extending the o2 sensor. can I just extend the wires of my stock o2 sensor or do I have to get an ex sonsor? i cant remember but does the DX have 2 o2 sensors (before and after the cat) and the EX have only 1??

I found something like these,

so would a cat and header with those plugs work together?

96+ will have 2 o2 sensors. i cant remember if you put a y8 header in a y7, the stock cat is too short or too long. but if you get a y8 header, get a y8 high flow cat and ur good. the one you should worry about is the one that goes into the header closest to the head. the one in the cat just tells you when your cat is bad. hook up an o2 sim to the one in the cat and your good

so I'll be fine as long as the header and cat have holes for the o2 sensors already right?

I can't really tell form the pic, but that doesn't look like a real cat. It looks like a resonator with an o2 bung. You might get a CEL if you use that. It shouldn't hurt your performance, but you won't know if something else goes wrong because the light is already on.

On a side note...I have a Carsound cat for sale, if you're interested.

Make sure you get the header from a 96-98 EX....you will only have to extend the second set of 02 sensor wires

The DC Sports header for the EX comes with an O2 extension wire set that plugs right in. If you do have to splice, just makes sure you do a good job a route the wires away from the exhaust so it does not melt the wires.

Last summer I placed a 4-2-1 header with similar looking cat in your pic. The only trouble I had was I stripped one of the O2 when removing it. Had it wrapped in aluminum foil for a while so I didn't throw a CEL. I went through two universals O2 before just buying a denso OEM from http://www.oxygensensors.com for like 100.00. With the universals I kept throwing CEL code 65 . I did make sure that both were wired correctly and check their resistants which was good. I had to go to the OEM because of I/M. The OEM went into my cat and the wires wouldn't reach so I grabbed a scalpel from work and carefully removed the wires from the conduit housing and re-wraped in new conduit and electrical tape.
Sorry for the novel but hope this helps
