Default PLASMA CUTTER what are your thought about this unit

Here is the unit I'm talking about

http://www.harborfreight.com/c...91814

It's cheap, look like it will do the job, Mainly cutting 1/8, rarely up to 1/4 but does.

tell me what you think.

I seriously thought about it. Then I went and looked at it and decided I would rather spend $1000 once than $500 once and $1000 the second time..

^^^^^^^^^ worth quoting!!!

Personally, I havn't used that machine, but think about it...36amps max power!!!???? IF you can get it to cut 1/4" steel, it will chew it all to **** worse than a cut off wheel, and leave **** hanging off the back side about 1/2" long.

If you have ever used an underpowered plasma cutter, you know that it really sucks ***. It sucks *** even for demolition work, much less something you want to weld afterwards or make look nice.

Yep well said !!
but I looked at it and it has the same power than a few other machine that worth 1000$

http://order.harborfreight.com...s.jsp

Then I realised there was no transfo in there, it's an inverter and it dosn't have the air compressor built in, but I don't want it with an air source I already have a good compressor.

Ok you REALLY need to stop thinking anything from harbor freight is anywhere near as good as a product from elsewhere. So it has an external compressor connection.. There is a reason its cheaper, and its not because they have the technology cheaper or they mark it up less!~ Im in the resale business and I coudl get a Truck load of harbor freight stuff.. I know the costs and there simply cannot be quality for the price!

You'd be better off buying a used plasma cutter. We have a Hobart at the shop and it works great. Now we just need to get it on a circuit that won't trip every minute on the highest setting.

dont buy it. I bought a higher end model Hobart and it did a shitty job. I can image what this one would do.

Go with a Hypertherm or Miller

cant go wrong there.
