Civic vs. Teg chassis for 350whp+ street car
Goals: 350whp+ 100% street car....semi daily driver/ weekend-nighttime troll
I know power to weight owns, and 90% of the big kill vids (Supra's, Vipers, Ferraris) feature Civics. So what are the advantages of the DC2 chassis? Besides sex appeal?
Is it common for guys to swap their DC2 chassis for an EK or EG? (while keeping their teg motor)
I keep looking at the now infamous full race teg/ full race civic vid. To me it looks like the teg has got close to $10k in extra motor work (and 200hp) over the civic B18C stock internals...and yet gets pulled on.
That being said...why would you keep your DC2 chassis over a Civic's? Better handling?
(im asking cuz i can get my hands on an EK body cheap, but i dont want my handling to suffer too much..i own a JDM GSR)
P.S. If this topic is tired, point me to a post that covers all this...did search as well and got jack ****.

The only reason to go with a civic over an integra is the insurance is usually alot cheaper. This is of course for street use.
If its a track car, its usually easier to get a lower weight when starting with a car that already weighs 200-300 lbs less.

everybody's favorite and covetted EK's are a joke. Unless you gut the living **** out of it, its a TANK the 99 stock CX is 2425 and the Dx is 2475
stock 98 Itr is 2545 (i think) i know 98 gsr is 2675 stock.
not much of a weight difference if you ask me.
Thats why i chose a 92 civic Cx. a whopping 2098 pounds stock. NOW theres a weight difference!
I owned a 99 EK, it handled like complete ****. I had KYB AGX's and ground controls on otherwise stock suspension. CTR or ITR suspension with sway bars will help tremendously. My ek went straight fast, try to turn, forget it. Plus OBD2 sucks.
If i were in your situation, i would stick with the integra and try to gut 150-200 lbs.
-Rear seats
-scrape up the tar
-remove bumper rebar
-spare and jack
-air bags
-A/c PS ABS
All of the above and a **** load more has been removed from my CX
After all, weight reduction is free, if not profitable (sell your junk) Your car (your teg) has the suspension already, it has the engine, it has the styling, lose some weight and apply power.
Simple, cheap, effective.

I swapped to a civic chassis to save some weight on my street "race" car, but I prefer the integra for daily driving duties. To me they are just alot nicer and a better driving experience(whatever that means). Unless you are really trying to compete w/ the car I wouldn't worry about the weight to much just go w/ the chassis you are happier driving.

i like the integra's interior a lot better. if money was never an issue (insurance, etc) i would go with a teg. but im a poor college kid and can only afford cheap *** civics with CHEAP *** insurance
they think i only have 70 hp

I love my integra, I think they look better then civics(my opinion). If you want
the most out of your set-up though power to weight OWNZ. Me and jeff evans
aka Boosted-Hybrid raced around one night and even though my car had a
120whp advantage with the amount of people we had in the car and the chassis
weight difference he had about 1000 pound weight advantage and he would
pull me. Check out the video in my sig to watch it. It's hard to compete with
EG's. In the end of video weight shifted -300 from me and added 300 to Jeff.
The added weight and lower torque did put the advantage back in my court.
The video is huge but worth it.

I like the weight of the HB
I was rocking a sedan for a while, but I found an EG rolling chassis, so I tore it down, repainted it, put in new interior with some knock off brides (
) and slapped my old motor in it. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference weight makes.
