Default i swear my suspension is out to get me

well i put some agx kybs today because my stock shocks were so dead i could push them down with my finger, i get them on, set them to 3 and go for a cruise, worse experience of my life! the car banged around so much i almost threw up, it wasnt a soft bounce, it was a stiff hard bounce, it was so bad i had to pull over and switch the setup. i turned it to 1 and drove it back on to the highway. it was better but it was still horrible. it is worse then my stock BLOWN shocks! i didnt even lower it that much, at the most a 1 and a half. i am using skunk 2 coilovers if that makes a difference. the only thing i can think of that i did wrong was i didnt know what the numbers on the coilovers meant so i just put them on
so one please help!

sounds like the coilovers were installed wrong. did you put the rubber o-rings in on the strut and then put the sleeve over it ? with that size drop, you shouldve got h&r sports or eibach sportline. much better feel. pic would help.

i got the coilovers used and all i got was the springs and sleeves, could those little o rings cause so much bounce?

you need those o-rings if you're using coilovers, but even then coilovers bounce shitty anyway because of the even flat cut springs they use.

So you went from stock shocks and springs to KYB and coilovers? If that's true, I think it might be the ride from the coilovers. Try your stock springs to see what happens. If it is the springs, I'd recommend GC, H&R or Eibach.

It's due to the relatively high spring rates of the Skunk2 coilover sleeves.

AGX's aren't enough to handle it - especially when you consider that the AGX adjustment changes both bump and rebound compression.

no i had stock shocks and skunk 2 coilovers they rode fine until the shocks went out, never had the o ring on the stock shocks either, its frusterating going from a bouncy ride, spending 300 dollars and going to a violent bouncy ride

the dust covers are still on the rear and it is lowered about 1.5 inches and the bumper stops are not cut

Something has to be wrong. I had H&R race springs on KYB and it was rough but no where near VIOLENT. I now have H&R oe springs (.75 drop all around) and it rides extremely smooth. I couldn't imagine Skunks spring rates being THAT high. I mean any higher than my RACE springs. The skunks are pretty much a street application aren't they?

PS. I have mine set at 3f/6r

there's your problem right there. with most sleeve coilovers, you need to ditch the dust boots and the metal cylinder that they're attached too. they'll crash into the sleeves themselves. also, some sleeve coilovers require that you ditch the bumpstop altogether.

GC's are an exception to both of these. for gc's you trim the dust cover and bumpstops and resuse them both

its possible becuase the front and rear have diff spring rates. the orings prevent the sleeve from moving around. something has had to be installed wrong. ive had h&r race springs, sport springs, and eibach sportlines. all on agx's. nothing to the extent of your situation.

No, but the bumpstops will. When the shocks are fully compressed, it acts as a 'hard point' basically limiting the movement. This can cause an extremely harsh ride, because instead of the spring rates of your coilovers, your bumpstop rams into the top mount, and the top of the shock will hit it.

This results in a no damping conditon where every bump is transfered directly to the frame of the car instead of being rebounded by the spring an damped by the shocks.

usually when u lower a car, cut the bump stop in half. the dust cover shouldnt cause the issues you are having now

sounds like you installed when wrong, getting omni coilovers won't do anytihng, cause omni and skunk buy the same springs from china.
