I just bought a d16y8 tranny to go with my d15b motor..(I had been using the CX tranny ) and was wondering if the swap is possible to do with a jack and jackstands, or if i would have to use a lift or something.

Also on the side, i was wondering if there are any tricky things that might help me out with this swap.

 

i usually just jack my car up put it on stands, then use the jack to hold and lower the tranny or visa versa. I never needed more then that. :-P

 

You can do it with jacks and jackstands. Only thing you need is a friend to help out to balance the transmission and hold it in place while you mount/remove the transmission. Other than that, it's a straight swap.

how long does it take to complete it..like the first time you did it?

Also what kind of prep should i do to the tranny before installing?

 

the first time probably took me 3 hours to drop it and put it back in.
