Hey I currently have a 99 Civic Si. I am in need of a clutch and flywheel and am looking for some opinions on setup.

The car will have a t3/to4e turbo with an intercooler and all the basics. I am really looking for some nice HP gains but my main concern is RELIABILITY. It will be running 7lbs of boost. It wont be some full out crazy setup. I will be buying from this site everything except i will probably get a better manifold then the drag one.

First how reliable will this kit be. Can it be daily driven and reliable? Can i go full throttle in 4th or 5th without my motor blowing up? (i have seen way to many threads on this).

Also what clutch would you recomend. I was looking at this one from club civic

But is this clutch going to be able to handle the torque of the turbo? How much torque will the turbo make and how much can that clutch handle? I PM'ed them but i havent got a response in about a week.
Is this a good flywheel weight? What weight is recomended for a turbo?

The stage 1 clutch will handle that amount of output easily. Stage II (Kevlar) are just as good but reduce chatter. Stick with the OEM flywheel. Lightweight flywheels improve response, but sacrifice reliability and longevity, the things you are after.

The turbo will be as reliable as the tuning. Go Uberdata and have it tuned by a professional to be reliable. Other methods, like the hack, eManage, etc., work, but aren't reliable.

Basically, it sounds to me like you want more power but don't want the ability to accidentally blow the engine up. This is the way to go then.

 

I would stay with the oem flywheel.

Exactly. So I will stick with the stock weight flywheel b/c i definately am trying to keep reliability here. Now do you know what the stock flywheel weighs? Should I just resurface the old one or get a new one. I am thinking of just getting a new one of the same weight to be safe. Thanks

Resurface it.

 

OK I will get the flywheel resurfaced but what clutch do you recomend. The one i listed only comes as a package.

What is a good clutch for my setup? Thanks again you guys have been a tremendous help.

 

I recommend SPEC. They aren't too expensive and have a nice high-clamp pressure plate.

I've been running the ACT extreme pressure plate, and 6 puck disc. Along with the ACT streetlite flywheel. It's been in my car for almost 2 years, and I haven't had any problems.

It's takes some getting use too, but it's not bad...
