Default Need Cat recommendations. 4th Gen

I'm going to go have my car tuned, and I'm looking for some cat recommendations, keeping in mind I don't have emissions, but I don't want a test pipe. I have a DC Sports 4-2-1 header so it must bolt up to that...and then bolt up to a normal aftermarket exhaust which in this case will be an Apex-I N1. I'm looking for bolt on, as I don't have time for welds and hacksaws later on down the road. This is for a 4th Gen. Look forward to your help.

most people will tell you carsound is the best. it cost 130 bucks. i believe correct me if im wrong. i give it two thumbs ups.

i was poor when it came to buying mine. so i bought a cheap one off ebay. it was 40 bucks. the welds were perfect and best in quality. i compared to the carsound on my friends accord. look identical. i can get pictures. bolted straight up.

i guess it all up to if you want to spend the big dough or try your luck like me.

I'm also looking to get an aftermarket cat to replace my rusted OEM.

From what I've read, I'm swaying toward one of those ebay resonated test pipes for $40.

The carsound cats for $130 - is that a universal where I will have to weld my own flanges or is that a bolt on application?

Thanks for the help

you are correct. carsound is a magnaflow subsidiary(sp?). However, from what I have heard they are of very good quality.

here's my opinion:

If you don't have emissions and want to open up the bottleneck of the cat, get a test pipe that's the same size piping as your exhaust. You will pay more for a hi-flow cat that will probably die within a year, and after it's all said and done, you STILL have a restrictive cat!
