Default Power windows go up and down with no key in the ignition

The other day I had to pick up some medicine from the drive thru drug store. I turned off the engine so I could hand the pharamacist my CVS card attached to the keychain. Without the key in the ignition, my 4 year old son was able to operate the power windows in the rear of my 99 Accord LX. Has anyone ever seen this happen - I find it odd that the windows would work without the car turned on/key in ignition. Thanks

I have a 91 accord and it does the same thing. The only way to get the windows to disingaged is to open a door. I'm not sure if this is normal. You might want to try that in your vehicle to see if its the same.

I think it's a courtesy feature that goes away the second you open your door but I may be wrong. After you take the key out of the ignition open the driver door and see if the windows still go up and down.

you can still operate the power windows for as long as no one opens the doors. it is jus a feature for you in case you turned your engine off and you did close your windows you wont have to put the key back in.

yea, the power windows will work for 15 minutes after the engine has shut off. or until a door opens.

Hmm....I thought it was a 30 second delay. It is on my car anyway. Maybe the newer one's have a longer delay.
