damn your exhaust must be loud!

Open dump is the only way to go imo

I'm running an open dumptube....

It really does stink though... but my car stinks anyways because of the test pipe... that and I'm running pretty rich...

The only reason I'm open right now is because it was going to be to much of a pain to route the dumptube back into the exhaust, I just didn't feel like doing it at the time... I still don't care, it doesn't bother me enought to take the time to route it back into the down pipe...

I had one and really didn't mind it, except it did make a shitload of noise. Smell wasn't an issue. The real problem I stumbled upon was the inability to hear detonation at WOT. You really have to have a trained ear to hear it over an open dump. Also, part throttle driving became really annoying, so I re-routed it. I like the new, refined sound.

my dp..is bolted directly to the exhaust and my car doesnt smell, and i have an open dump staright to the ground.

why do people say having a test pipe/ or running with out a cat, makes your car smells ???

isnt everything bolted up nice and tight? must be an exhaust leak you guys dont know about or dont care to fix, and you just blame it on having a testpie/no cat.

Maybe his wg is messed up and it also dumps in vaccum?
This remind me of some smart guy who said you will smell the exhaust from the dumptube at redlight stops

Ummm... I don't think I've ever heard detonation but my understanding is that if you hear it your engine is pretty much a done deal...

Do you detonate often? You are talking about pre-ignition right? Where the fuel ignites before the spark plug fires?

Maybe I'm confused

I only dump into the atmosphere when I can't find a toilet.

ha ha I am funny.

anyway, I ran open downpipe and could still hear the internal wastegate open up (but only when there was a barrier next to me). it was very rewarding. couldn't hear my bov though. it was a dsm, and mounted on the charge piping in the bumper, pre-ic.

I should post pictures of my set up some day. it's worth a laugh.

Id like to know more about this subject

I was under the impression it had absolutely no effect on performance

Does it?

Or is everyone just lazy to make it go back into the exhaust or have its own exit?

Open dumptube compared to dumptube routed into downpipe was a 40whp difference on an H22A turbo, tests done by FMAX back like 5 years ago. Turbonetics now sells F Max turbo kits badged as their own

Im assuming open downtube was the lesser of the 40whp? I just dont see how it makes a difference
