Default Non-PS rack for 3rd gen lude

I was wondering if there were any Non-ps racks for my 3rd gen lude. Its a 1990 2.0 Si 2ws, and my ps rack's boots are torn and i want to know if i can just put a new rack on and get rid of the PS all together. Also wondering if there are any rack that i can use from other cars. IE: civics, tegs, ect

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I know you can use non-ps racks from a civic in a 2g teg with little modification so there might also be a way to implement the same idea with a prelude using a civic rack.

Anyway, if not, BUMP for a friend.

nope....you really cant...the best thing to try would be an accord form teh same vintage, but its a long shot...jsut replace the boots and call it a day.

thanks for the input... i will look to see if an accord rack will work, i just like the handling of no ps so thats another reason why i'm just getting rid of it.

would just leaving the ps rack in there and removing the lines work as well? or will having holes (which are fairly small) be a major problem in the future?

also... if anyone knows if the accord racks will work please post the outcomes, Thanks!

This isn't very high tech, but I've got a 3rd gen with 175,000 miles and haven't had power steering for about 2 years and have had no problems. I noticed the increase in power to the wheels to the wheels which is nice, plus I don't have to worry about the pwr steering going bad anymore, plus less weight without all the pwr steering stuff in there, plus less clutter under the hood.

I say disconnect the belt and drive it for a week without the power steering and see if you get used to it. Once you get above 5 mph, you hardly notice it.

Just my 0.02, and again, not too high tech, but better than ps fluid all over the engine

if you;re worried about the "holes" left form where youd detatch the lines, just plug em with a bit of silicon caulk, or find a little rubber plug, like an ear plug or somthing.

the only advantage to using an accord rack would be a quicker ratio, but as accords and preludes go, preludes are the :sportier" car so i can only assume that tehyd have a better rack/quicker rack ratio

thanks for the info guys... i've been driving with no p/s for about 2 months now and yeah, it does seem to feel better, so i'm going to go ahead and just remove the lines (ps pump has already been removed) and not have to worry about it from now on... and as for the rack i'll just leave the stock one in there. it doesn't seem to be bothering anything

Thanks again to all who helped
