What the hell is double clutching? everyone I've asked seems to not know, Yet everyone has heard of it.

it's an excellent technique to know. you can use it in up shift as well as down shift. thanks to stuipid F&F the movie (which it was totally mis-used) some ppl think you need to double clutch on drag racing. heck no! that just slows you down. but if you really wanna babe your car while you're not racing, you would DC on your down shifts as well as upshifts. but unless you do it right, you will do more harm than good. it does take some practice but once it is 2nd nature, you don't even think about it.

I use double clutching a lot in daily driving to save the synchros. It also makes a much smoother shift and is more pleasant.

God awful movie contributed to so many ricers in my area. And to think, I was really looking forward to seeing it but after I saw it, It had nothing to do with real street racing. I mean a 2g buy in, four way race, Everyone ran on 19's for 3 miles. Although that 8 speed tranny in the Eclipse RS was impressive.

my tranny has a fifth gear grind so i double clutch everytime when i shift into fifth... no grinds.
