Default Life Insurance

Its a glum topic but anyone else consider or have it? I know my family has dumped shitloads of money into my trainwreck of an education among other things; I'd hate to leave them high and dry because of my hobbies. Age, how much you pay, how much coverage and which provider would be helpful. Thanks.

I have mine through work. Employeer pays for 2x my annual salary and I supplement that with I think $20k more in coverage. I'd have to get back to you if you were seriously interested in knowing how much it is.

I also have life ins through work. I didn't have to take a health exam or anything because I got it when I was hired. The only thing they really asked me was if I was a smoker or not. I don't remember the exact amout the plan is for maybe 100k, but it only costs me a coupple cents every pay check since I'm only 20. I also have a another plan incase I get injured and can't work thats also only a couple cents every paycheck. I think its well worth it considering the risks we take with this particular hobby. My mom has taken care of me for my whole life. If mine should end, I would like to think that I can leave her with something of her own. I think that if I was married, or had children, I would feel the same way.

that's exactly what i had in mind; she dumped 100 large on highschool alone. i want to repay them someday for it and would hate to leave them with nothing. thanks for the suggestions guys, i will probably do this thru work.

i went to UNH for a year for mechanical engineering then dropped everything and moved to CA to stay with my family (i am in a transfer program to UCSD in hopes of getting back on track). didn't even get to finish highschool there; was cut short a year. when there is a "dispute" between two students and you aren't the one whose family donates architectural structures, you don't get to stay. college matricuation isn't as good as you would think for what you pay; only a few get into ivy schools. legacy is what counts there... most end up in state or ivy wannabes (no offense meant). hell, my roomate's great-grandfather founded the school and hes in some college i've never heard of in east bumfuck wisconson. i would not say we are "loaded"; i have always paid for every car or bike i've had.

i'm going to school in irvine and you would not believe the amount of spoiled focks here. seems like every asian kid drives a bmw, no less. one of my roommates has a new bmw 3 series, but of course that's not enough, he wants to get an m3 now. i don't think i know anyone here that has purchased their own bmw/benz/lexus/etc.
