Default Difference in the 96-97 and 98+ ITR's

I am in the process of buying a type r swap from one of the reputable companies (ie Osaka, JDMsource, totalJDM). ANd I was wondering what's the difference btwn the 1st R and the second R, I know that the GSR obd-1 is better than obd-2 bc of the restrictions it has on obd-2. Thanx.

The answers to your questions are in the search button...

All R motors are OBD2, the earlier ones (96 spec) being OBD-2A and the later ones being OBD-2B. The 96 Spec have ever so slighty different cams and a 4.4 final drive. The later ones have a 4.7 final drive. Also, the JDM 4-1 header that you always hear about is the 98+ header, the 96 spec was a 4-2-1.

Mostly just the color, other than a FD and header change.

thanx. I'll go with the 98 + since it's only 200 bucks more. Worth it.
