Si and HF engine harnesses are not the same - all of the wires (except for one) in the round 8 pin engine harness connector that plugs into the chassis harness on the driver's side at the firewall are in different locations in the two harnesses - also wires in the connector on the passenger side are different - some wires in the HF harness connector on the driver's side are in the passenger side connector in the Si harness

I have an 89HF. I swapped engines and used a 90-91 HF harness. It did not work. 4 wires were different.
I searched an online Honda parts site and it shows 88HF is one harness, 89HF is another and 90-91HF is another.
As to HF or Si all I can say is if you peel your HF harness off your HF engine and drop in an Si engine the harness will work, injector 1 is still injector 1 etc.
As for the guy posting the pic, let me say this to you. Your pic doesn't help anyone. You posted it when I was having wiring problems. You post it whenever anyone mentions HF and Si. You can put that useless info where the sun doesn't shine. You get everyone all excited that someone is about to show them the info they need and then you clam up, because you don't have any info. You have some small piece of the puzzle that you admitted to me you don't even understand.

Just make sure u get an SI harness from the same year car as yours and you should be fine. I thought it was 88-89 is one style and 90-91 is the other. Then again, im thinkin about hatchbacks, maybe crx's are different.

the green and white wire on the pass side plug is also different. you have to match that up, otherwise there will be no spark. the diagram shown earlier is true on the wiring also.
they are NOT the same
they are NOT the same
I traded my 89 crx si shell for a 90 HF shell, i kept my Si harness and he kept the his HF harness on his motor . he installed the motor with the HF harness on the 89 si shell and it DID NOT WORK. he took it to a shop and they rewired all kinds of wires. so now i need an HF harness since my Si harness wont work with the HF shell :/
help someone. get me an HF harness
help someone. get me an HF harness
I put a 90/91 HF harness in my 89 HF and converted it to OBD1 plugs to run a 95 GSR engine. It would start but ran poorly and limited to 3300rpm. I downloaded a 95 GSR Helms and it showed me what plugs lead to where on the ECU plug, but not the firewall plugs.
I ran a 10ft piece of wire from each wire on each plug of the engine harness, one at a time till I traced the wires back to the ECU. If they didn't match I'd mark them and figure out where it was leading on the firewall plugs. Then trace the engine side of the firewall plugs to the sensor and repin it to line up with the ECU side of the firewall plugs. This took a long time but between 89 and 90/91 there seemed to be only 2 pairs of wires that were wrong. This cured 2 of my trouble codes and the car runs a lot better. I don't think I'm done yet but the snow has stopped me from working on it more.
The colors that I repinned were the same on the engine side and the ECU side of the firewall plugs. I hate to make this sound easy but it might be as simple as matching the colors up. That's part of the reason I stopped, after I realized that the wires I repinned matched the other side of the plug I looked at all the colors and they all matched. I assumed they were good to go.

According to this, both distibutors are the same.

FALSE ALARM! lol. we switched one of the wires on the dist and it fired right up. lol. im gonna post a new thread on it in about 2 days
feels good to hear her purr again. I think the only difference in the Si and HF harness is like 2 wires or somethin.
