Looking for some strategy help for selling a 90 CRX DX
let me start out by saying this is NOT a for sale thread. I still need to clean the car up and decide how I am selling it before I place it for sale. The purpose of this thread is to decide how to sell it.
I have a 90 CRX DX with 230k miles.
You can see more pictures of it here: http://www.howard.saturnet.net/civic/crx/
As 90s Hondas go it is pretty stock. Clean slate for mods. I need to sell it or find a place to store it because I am buying a new car and do not have room for it or the time to put a B series in that I thought I would. As you can imagine, the D series is reliable. Gets me to work everyday without fail. It still has a good bit of life left in it, but with 230k miles on it, it probably is close to time for a rebuild or replacement. It does use oil.
What isnt stock:
Exhaust, I put a stainless steel 3 inch K teller system on the car when the oem style muffler I had on there exploded and the pipe between the cat and the axle sheared. Its half TIG welded because I ran out of argon the day I set aside to install it and havent had time to finish. Pictures of that can be found here http://www.howard.saturnet.net....html It currently has a $100 stainless steel flexpipe along with a stainless steel magnaflow muffler. If the buyer brings me a 3 inch cat when I sell it, I will install a new cat with a MIG at no extra charge so the car can pass emissions. It passed emissions last year with a 2 1/4 inch cat I am not including.
Sound, I upgraded the audio system to 6.5 inch coaxial boston accoustic speakers and put a Sony MP3 playing Head unit in. The removable face is now finicky to click in, but it still works.
So, I guess I am looking for guidance on whether or not it is a good idea to remove that stuff and try to go back to stock. Maybe just remove them and try to sell the car without any sound system or exhaust system whatsover?
The speakers will fit in the new car I am buying, so I am very tempted to pull em and throw some Pyles or something else cheap in there. Im not sure the value they add to the car is very much.
I also have a set of AZ race b series mounts and fake leather seats from a later civic.
Car has new tires on it.
So the prices I have in my head are:
$1,500 as it is and I will include the mounts.
$1,250 without the mounts or the speakers or head unit(i could probably be talked into leaving the head unit in there)
$1,000 stripped... no exhaust/sound
Are these numbers out of wack? Can anyone think of a better way to package it?
Thanks

The strengths that are going to sell your CRX are:
1) Stock
2) Passenger side mirror
3) Rear wiper
4) Throwing the nice seats in.
5) New exhaust
Weaknesses:
1) Dented fender/door?
2) Rust
3) It's a Dirty Pig.
Throw a cheap *** stereo and some cheap speakers in there or nothing at all. Your MP3 and boston acoustics are not the selling point for this car. Resell the mounts on ebay. You'll get more for them. Spend 4 hours detailing it and definately include the seats with the sale. I would start at $1500 with the seats and nothing else. Then go from there. You have a CRX and they don't and if they are looking at yours seriously then they have no other choices. Chances are anyway.
Good luck.
