I have heard its not good to turn a honda crank. I unfortunatly have 2 cranks that have had a rod bearing spin in them. One isnt that bad and the other isnt much worse. I just really dont wanna buy 2 more cranks. Any help would be appreciated.
I have always doen that on all my blocks and friends
what would be the problem if they been broken in
I see nothing worng in that
and well if u got them spun bearing there get it to a machine shop there nothing else u can do it has to be worked on

Honda cranks are nitrided from the factory. Its a surface hardening process that gets mostly ground away when you regrind the crank. For the cost of the regrind, and nitriding you could buy a good used std crank for less.

Is that all honda cranks or just the Type R cranks?
I had a crank with a spun rod bearing. The machine shop said they haven't had much luck with turned cranks holding bearings. They also said what you mentioned about grinding off the nitride surface and having to get it re-nitrided for a great cost.
I brought them a couple different cranks and in the end all they were happy with was a crank out of a known good motor.
