What's the highest revving B18* anyone seen? I know it's pointless to rev beyond where it's producing power but I'm talking an engine that is still pulling beyond 10k rpm's... I've searched all over the place and can't find much info...has it been done, does it idle at 3-5k rpms, does it have any torque at all, etc.?

The highest i've been in is a B18C5 @ 9,700 with vtec killer cams but I'm wanting to hear about a little more....something that will make the hairs stand up on your arms and chills down your spine when you hear it flyby...maybe 11-12k? What would/does it sound like, how was it built, how long did it last, etc?

 

Would it have to be a .8 crank? I have heard de-stroked b18's rip up to, and maybe past 10k. Put a b16 crank in that bitch, big bore, and they RIP

 

An 11k-12k motor will not last, nor will it be streetable. As you proposed, the only b18cs revving that high are big roller cam motors (not very common)-- it's very hard to hold torque that high into the rpm band. How about erick's racing old motor... revved to 10k- I think that was using 'erick's spec / Toda Spec D cams' - but don't quote me on that. As for idling at 3-5k rpms... are you serious?.... not quite... and yes they have torque... you should research a bit

 

9,700 all you have seen? well i can personally show you 11k in my car....of course it doesnt make any power up there...so why?

 

I realize there is not much of a point to this thread but I was just curious what people have had success with.
