what can cause my stock tach si tach to stop working ?

after i washed the car and the engine bay a lil the tach just stoped working when i went to start it. now what can cause it to stop working ? wet wires ? or what never happen before when i washed the engine bay

ohh! i got it to work agian. there was water filled up where the blue wire came off the disturtbor
