Is 18K miles to many on a Yamaha and would it be salvaged if????
Ok so I am pretty much sold on this 2001 yamaha r6 I looked at today. It is red and black. Never been down and has new did chain and sprockets, pretty new tires, fender eliminator kit, tinted screen, SS frotn brake line, and yoshimura carbon slip on exhaust. Everything looked perfect on it and it drove nicely. It has almost 18K, It is only the one owner who had it since new and he just had the 18K service done on it under warranty where they did a valve adjustment. He will sell it to me for $4200. Would the bike have a salvage title if someone cut the ignition on it and he went threw insurance to have it fixed along with the gas tank that was scraped. Should I go for the bike?
haha alright sweet. I am going to pick it up on Monday. Can some one run a vin number check on it for me? Is that the same as a carfax. Thanks

By law, they're suppose to tell you if it has a title other than "clear" (i.e. salvaged, junk, non-rebuildable, etc.) Look it over before handing over any money. If his statement of "insurance paid to have it fixed" is true, then it's not salvaged. When they total loss a bike (which eventually makes a bike salvaged... after someone buys it and fixes it) the insurance company determines that paying for the bike's value will be better than fixing it. So they won't fix it.

That's alot in the eyes of insurance companies. My GF's insurance company wanted to dock $1k from the value when she totaled her '03 Yamaha R6, and that thing had only 8K miles. She was pissed!!!
